Chicken Tacos

So I'm going to take the plunge and make chicken tacos tomorrow for supper.  I know, I know...I'm a bit behind and it really can't be rocket science, but I wanted some opinions.  Most of the recipes I looked at said chicken, taco seasoning, and a jar of salsa.  I'm not a huge fan of salsa and I wasn't sure how spicy it would be (I bought mild).  But sometimes regular taco seasoning can tingle my lips. (gutter material right there!)  Is this what you do?  If not, what do you do?  TIA

The chicken tacos were a success!  Everyone enjoyed them.  They didn't sit as heavy as a beef tacos.  I layered salsa, taco seasoning, and chicken breasts in the crockpot.  When I got home I shredded the meat and put it back in the crock to soak up the juice.  Its a definate make again at our house!

I made my own taco seasoning and now that we have this recipe, I will can a few jars of salsa in the summer.  YUM!

I make my own  spice blend för the chicken, add as much heat as I prefer ( I am no fan of lips tingle too much) and then veggies I like and cream cheese and cheddar and then wrap it in a tortilla.

I usually put salsa and chicken in the crockpot. It's never tingly. I think you will like it. Super easy.

We're having the tacos tonight.  I put a thin layer of salsa on the bottom of the crockpot.  I could smell the spice!  Then I put the chicken in with some taco seasoning.  I will have DH stir/shred the chicken at lunch or after work.  Fingers crossed.

Oh, and I'll keep you updated on the tingly lips! ;)

Here! I'm here! I cannot believe there was a tingling lips conversation going on here and no one texted me.

What else makes your lips tingle, Susan? Oh wait, we are supposed to be talking about tacos.

I have used ground turkey for tacos instead of beef, but not chicken. Are you talking ground chicken or shredded chicken? I never put salsa in my taco meat. I just use the envelopes of seasoning. I think you could skip the salsa. I do use taco sauce on mine once they are done.

How were they?
