Do you ever use a rubber finger?

Do you ever lick your finger to turn pages?

Have you ever used something like a pencil eraser or rubber band on your finger to go through papers?

Have you ever used something like what I call "sticky finger" or SortKwik?

Or do you do none of the above and just struggle with dry fingers trying to get pages or papers apart?

Cara, isn't that a bone folder? We used one when I was scrapping a lot. Makes a great edge! I need one here at work... because I use the edge of a pen or pencil most the time. Sometimes it leaves a mark though.

Yuck no, it irks me when customers lick their fingers to try and separate money.

I just try and separate the papers with dry fingers....

I almost never lick my finger, because - ewe, I work in a school.  Germs everywhere, and my hands get too dry if I wash all the time (or use hand sanitizer) and I can't use lotion everytime, as my fingers get too slippery to play the piano. At a training last fall a teacher was passing out the handouts and I watched her lick her finger as she did it. I didn't want to touch that paper!  I usually let kids "take one and pass them down". Completed assignments and forms don't stick together like stuff fresh out of the copy machine. If I am really having a hard time, I will use an eraser. Never seen the rubberband thing, though.

My high school job was in the office/supply room of the Spokane Public Library system, and we had an on-staff printer. Part of my job was folding, counting and packaging brochures and flyers, so I used the rubber fingers and sticky pink and green stuff a lot. I also used one of these, a lot!

Anybody know what it is???? We had one that was the real deal, and one that was plastic. The real one was much nicer - heavier, with a good edge.

What a funny question!  I'm a "deal with it" person but some days a little hand lotion helps.  This got me a belly laugh because one of my staff at a company back in 1989 transferred, and we made him a basket of essentials for his new job.  We got most of it out of our supply drawer, stuff no one ever used.  So he got a rubber finger.  And purple highlighters, reinforcement rings (paper a$$holes), Lipton Cup-o-Soup, gum erasers...it was funny beyond belief what we found in the office supplies at a 40 year old company.

I don't go through papers all that much at this job.  I have used the eraser end of a pencil.

In previous jobs when I had a lot of papers to go through I did use a rubber finger.  Oh boy how I could take this one to the gutter.  But I am going to be good!

Do you ever use a rubber finger?

Yes, I keep one on my desk.

Do you ever lick your finger to turn pages?

I have too, but I really don't like to.

Have you ever used something like a pencil eraser or rubber band on your finger to go through papers?

Yes, I've used both when I needed to.

Have you ever used something like what I call "sticky finger" or SortKwik?

Yes, it is my favorite!  I use it when I am cutting coupons too.  I have a small container in my purse because I cannot stand dry hands either, Susan!

Or do you do none of the above and just struggle with dry fingers trying to get pages or papers apart?

No... i would lick my fingers before I'd struggle like that... i hate when that happens!

Do you ever use a rubber finger?

Just used one this morning.  I have one on my desk at all times.

Do you ever lick your finger to turn pages?

I have, but prefer not to.

Have you ever used something like a pencil eraser or rubber band on your finger to go through papers?

No, I don't think so.

Have you ever used something like what I call "sticky finger" or SortKwik?

I have.  At my old job, I used to make buttons and the inserts were paper and in order to pick them up and the metal pieces, and assemble, the sort kwik was a necessity.

This is what the machine looked like.  You would have a top metal piece, a bottom metal piece, an insert (the piece of paper with the design on it) and the mylar (the shiny protective cover).  If you got your hands working together you could do about 1000 buttons an hour.

Or do you do none of the above and just struggle with dry fingers trying to get pages or papers apart?

I can't stand dry hands.  I put lotion on after every hand washing.  I keep a pump bottle at my desk.  Plain ol Suave Advanced Therapy.  I can't stand greasy lotion either.
