Wondering what lighter butter substitutes people are using?
I just bought the Land o Lakes light butter/canola blend and it is the best light margarine I have found so far. Better than Smart Balance light blend and way better than I Can't Believe it's Not Butter.

I like that Land o Lakes light butter. I have used Country Crock Light a lot. It's always in the house. But some things just require real butter. Toast. Grilling sandwiches. They need real butter. The LoL Light works great for that.
CC Light will not give a grilled cheese that golden brown crunch that butter does. I use the CC Light on potatoes, a little bit in rice, etc.
I have used the Land o Lakes light butter but I like this one better - I get it at Trader Joe's - or I use Brummel & Brown
I don't use butter substitutes or light butter. I guess you can tell that by looking at me. My hubby once brought home light butter and I had him look at the ingredients in both the light butter and the REAL butter...
SOME INGREDIENTS IN LIGHT BUTTER: Water*, Buttermilk*, Contains Less Than 2% of Food Starch-Modified*, Tapioca Maltodextrin*, Salt, Distilled Monoglycerides*, Lactic Acid*, Potassium Sorbate* and Sodium Benzoate* (Preservatives), PGPR* (emulsifier), Natural Flavor*, Xanthan Gum*, Vitamin A Palmitate*, Beta Carotene* (color).
INGREDIENTS IN BUTTER: Sweet Cream & Salt
I know I do not eat as healthy as I should but I don't want all those crazy ingredients in my butter... just sweet cream & salt..... I can't believe all the stuff they put into LIGHT butter to make it light!
Not much of it sounds like it's good for you either.... and between the two, I would rather have the fat than all those chemicals or whatever they are. Just a personal preference, I guess...
