Well Shelly as you probably already know I am a Zumba Girl!  I take classes at the "Y" and I also have Zumba DVD's I use at home.  One of my instructors just gave me an extra one she had and I have a set I purchased last year.  I also have a bike I use some of the time just to mix it up.  One thing I have not been doing but need to start up again are floor exercises for my back which are actually good for your stomach.

I couldn't handle the Jillian Michaels DVDs that Susan and Tracy use.

If you have not exercised at all in a while you need to start slowly.  Don't want to hurt your knees or toss out your back.  If the weather is nice I would start walking.  You might want to start with the 10,000 step idea.

The other thing I would encourage you to do is log in to My Fitness Pal.

Thanks for the info girls!!!

I remember back in my college days, the girlsand I did videos called The Grind with MTV vj's or something. They were fun.

I will look into some workout videos. I would do the Wii, but we took all video games, computers, iPad etc from Waylon (and in return, Jeffrey) He refuses to listen to me, and he won't take his pills on time. So P and I set our foot down and put all of the video games into totes and packed them away, he was a very unhappy boy when he came home from school today!!!!

OOOOhhhh and I wanted to tell you that the girl that cuts my hair was at the George Straight down your way. Her husband suprised her with tickets and the hotel etc. She was sooooo excited!!!

Shelly if you like music and you like to dance there a lot of dance exercise DVDs.  You might want to check out the Zumba Gold set.  It is a fairly new set.  Zumba Gold is a slower and lower impact exercise routine.  It is good for getting back into the swing of things,  Do not let the fact it says it is for and "older" group turn you off of it.  It will help start you moving.  Like Tracy said you need to just "move".  I still would consider getting into a walking routine also.  Have the boys go with you.  It will be good for all of you especially since no video games allowed in your house.  I LOVE that!  Hope you both just stand your ground on that one!d

Guss has been doing Insanity. Susan and I have Jillian Michaels. I would love to do Insanity. The whole 60 day program is $145. There are some other DVDs in the $25 range I may try.

My JM DVDs are about $10 each. I have the 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30. I did Shred for 2 months. I needed a change and started Ripped on Monday. It's a butt kicker. I like JM ones because they are over in about 35 minutes with the warm up and cool down. They are hard. When I first did Shred years ago I was in serious pain. But keep going and you'll work through it. There is a modifier to do a lower impact version of the moves.

The main thing is to keep moving. You can do this, Shelly. It's hard. I struggle. And when I need a cheat I take it. I'm down 5 pounds in 2 months. Off topic, did you see in Babble where I listed that national well-being survey? KY and WV suck: we are ranked 49 and 50.

I hate how when you edit a post it lists it as the most recent one in the thread.

I love the video plug being pulled too. I know you have said in the past you didn't do it because he wouldn't care. I'm glad you tried anyway and it sounds like it helped. Good job.

I have a Zumba Wii game and I must admit that the music is unappealing to me so I don't do it much. I like songs I know better. So I do like the Just Dance better. There is even an 80's song section. I know the cyber dancers are thinking "what was that?" when I am done, but it's fun.

But since the Wii is packed up for now, there is the So You Think You Can Dance workout DVD series. I'd try something like that. If it gets too hard, as long as you are still moving, you can slow it down and take a short breather then speed it back up.

And I love the walking idea. Especially with the weather getting ready to turn.

I am going to start walking. I have a new iPod full of songs, and once it dries up I am gonna start.

I never thoughtoflooking on youtube, that's a great idea. I will probably workout in the boys room, it has more room in it for me to move around.  And we have the big desk top computer back there, so i can play DVD's on it or youtube videos! Thanks Mel!!!

Waylon wasn't too upset when he got home from school and everything was gone. Jeffrey was more upset LOL They aren't getting anything back for at least a week. And even then it may not get anything back, depends on how they listen and how well Waylon takes his medicine.
