Don't sweat having a lot of calories on MFP, Tracy - bet you money (BIG money) that I get more!

I haven't been exercising very consistently, but I am down 16 pounds since January. I have a long, long ways to go, but it has been slow and steady, and tracking those calories really helps me walk away from the terrible stuff. I bought some new flavors of Mio/Crystal Light flavor drops and have been doing better with water intake, too. I want to audition for the local symphony chorus in the fall and I need to improve my over all level of fitness and get my breath support back to where it should be. I just can't get through multi-measure melismas with any kind of finesse anymore! Looking forward to summer when I can get more consistent exercise in.

One other thing that is taken into consideration is your age and we all know who that is in this thread - lol! Also your height.  Shelly that is a great start - just keep on walking and next thing you know you will be stepping up the pace and looking for something to add to your exercise routine.  You will find something you love to do and make that part of your exercise routine.  I love to dance so it is Zumba for me.  Tracy and Susan like the "burn" and they like to run so that's their motivator.  Missy likes to walk so that works for her.

Having a goal is a great motivator - let's see now-

Cara's is to get her breath back so she can audition for the local symphony in the fall

Tracy wants to look "hot" for her Key West trip this summer

Susan wants to drop 20 lbs (where she has that much to drop is still a mystery to all of us) and run a race with her daughter

Shelly wants to be healthy for her kids and her own well being

Missy wants to keep in shape and keep the stress away

All pretty good goals as far as I am concerned.

oh goodness, not 20.  I think my original goal for the biggest loser was 12 lbs.  I'm half was there.  The main goal was to run a 5k with natalie.  I hope the warmer weather gets me in more of a mood to do it.  Running on a treadmill day in and day out gets boring.

Ah Shelly, you know we'll always be here for you.  Encouragement from Sandy and Tracy on MFP has kept me going and helps me account for my food and exercise habits.  My log in is my first initial and last name if you want to add me. :)

Good job Shelly!! That's a great start!

I think we're all doing pretty good if I do say so myself. Anything is better than nothing.

Whoa Shelly you are a brave soul!  Jillian scares me to death.  Good luck - oh and take it easy and listen to your body.  Do not try to over do it.  Baby steps for someone who has not exercised in a while is the best way to go.
