My trip~

The first afternoon we headed out to one of our favorite places, Schooner Wharf Bar. We both adore conch fritters and had them almost every day.

The view from our table.

That night we went to a Cuban place. I didn't take any pictures. I had a roast pork with jasmine rice and veggies. It was great.

Tuesday we kicked around town, rented bikes, and went to a bunch of stores around the Mallory Square area. For supper we went to an open air place called Grunts. It was our favorite meal there. Even in the heat, almost every place there is open air or outside. They have lots of fans.

Lobster mac and cheese appetizer. WOW, this was fantastic.

Grilled mahi-mahi with some sort of Cuban romelaude on it, rice, and grilled veggies.

We spilt key lime pie. Real whipped cream. Mmmmmmmm!

On Wednesday it rained and was gross. We had planned on going snorkeling, but it was too overcast. So we shopped more. We stopped into Sloppy Joes for sandwiches for lunch. I got an original sloppy joe, as it was created there.

Fabulous.

I'm out of time. Part 2 later.

Alright, 2 softball games, 1 baseball game, laundry run, and grocery store trip made. Now for part 2.

Wednesday cleared up by about 3:00. We swam all afternoon. There was a happy hour on the front porch every afternoon from 5-6:00. There was just about any alcohol you'd want, juice mixers, margaritas, beer, or wine. We really got to know the other couples there from the happy hour. I liked it a lot. We went out with other couples many nights. But not Wednesday. That night Jeff and I biked over to a place that featured a huge smoker. I got a half of a smoked chicken and Jeff got ribs. It was a massive amount of food. I didn't finish and was stuffed. We pedaled to the Southernmost point bouy that night and some other places.

On Thursday we went snorkeling. I didn't take a camera because you are in the ocean and no one is watching your stuff. We took towels, sunglasses, and sunscreen. That was all. As it turned out, it would have been fine, but you never know. The water was amazing, just a super clear turquoise blue. We saw some great fish too.

That night we went to Schooner Wharf to eat.

More conch fritters, with key lime mustard. Fantastic.

And then I got Cuban Mojito glazed grilled mahi, with steamed veggies, rice, and corn.

We went to Mallory Square for the sunset party that night. What a mob of people. But, it's always a good show to watch.

Friday, the last day. Boo. We went to Fort Zachary Taylor National Park.

There is no sand there. What you see is dredged in by the Navy. It's super course and doesn't feel good. There is no sand on the ocean floor. It's all rock.

You have to wear shoes. Not my favorite thing, but wow, look at that water. It's too beautiful for words. The pics don't do it justice.

Lunch was the classic B.O.'s Fishwagon.

We then went and swam, and enjoyed our final porch happy hour. For supper that night we went back to Sloppy Joe's for sandwiches. Key West is crazy expensive. A sandwich comes with nothing. And they are all like $8 or $9. Fries? An extra $4. So we got sandwiches only and then went to the Better Than Sex dessert restaurant.

I got Team Cream
Smooth, Slippery Vanilla Crème Love Custard joins in a poke party with Cracked Burnt Sugar Pieces, & dribbles of warm soft caramel. This crème brulee is teamed up with the perfect match: Orange Blossom Kissed Shortbread Wedgies… insert one today and you’ll be sure to score!

No words for how insanely divine this was. I am drooling thinking about it.

 Kinky Key Lime.
Expect to be fluffed. This Mile High Mousse Pie is mounted with a Creamy Key Lime Chiffon Cloud that fulfills its unusually strong desire to lay itself on top of a bed of flakey pie crust with a light blanket of Macadamia Nuts. Crave the Unique & Unordinary.

I liked mine better.

We returned to Zachary Taylor beach for sunset. Beautiful.

Wow... everything looks sooo pretty.... and delicious.... and DIRTY!  I have a feeling you and Jeff enjoyed reading the menu trying to decide which naughty treat to order!  LOL

I did not know the Sloppy Joe originated at a restaurant called Sloppy Joe's!  That's awesome!  I learned something new today.

I do have to say that Jeff's Key Lime Pie looks delicious!!  Heck, everything did, I'm starving already this morning!!
