New Year's Diet Resolutions?
| Thu, 01-03-2013 - 1:17pm |
Anyone else vowing to lose weight and exercise more this year? Are you using a specific diet plan?
I found a couple of websites that compare the various plans:
from WebMD: Weight Loss & Diet Plans
from US News: Best Diets
Have you tried any of the popular ones?
My exercise routine is fairly consistent but I am indeed working on changing my food style a bit more. I want to save money while also staying healthy so I am planning to add in more produce and meat-free nights. I do not believe in diets, per se, as you want something you can stick with. Healthy eating is a lifestyle, and when you quit a diet, if you have not learned how to eat properly, you can much more easily gain the weight back. Produce is hard to come by locally, at least affordably, so I purchased a canner so I can spend less money on canned items that are potentially salty and less healthy, too. I am interested in seeing what everyone else is planning to do!
I've been following Weight Watchers for about 11 months now and have found success. It really has changed the way I look at food and I've found new ones that I love. I'll continue with WW for a long while. It isn't a diet to me, but a new way of living.
I did set an exercise goal as one of my resolutions. My goal is to exercise each day, even if it is just a brisk walk outside. My friend and I are signing up for our first 5K run too. It will be a challenge for sure, but I'm excited to do it and have something to work towards!
Hello and welcome to Quick & Easy!
Tracy, I was going to say the same thing about having this same conversation in another thread. Like you, Tracy, I am not doing any "diet" either but going to try eating better and less and exercise more.
We do have our resident Q&E experts for Weight Watchers (Melissa who has lost over 60 lbs) and South Beach (Sandy who has been eating "South Beach-ish" for years).
Hello and welcome to Q&E. We're happy to have you here.
Some of us have been talking about this very thing in the thread titled Biggest Loser. Susan started talking about a weight loss pool at her work. I love that idea. We do it at my work too, but the $50 buy in this year was a little strong for me. I am not dieting per say, but I'm definitely making an effort to eat healthier and less.
The website and app My Fitness Pal is a great way to track your food and exercise intake. I have used that in the past and have recently started back as I am trying to shed some pounds.
I follow weight watchers... it really works when you follow the plan! My goal is to lose another 29lbs.. and I need to up my exercise. I do the just dance games on the wii, and also zumba on the wii.
