OMG! My Ex Boss Called

My replacement quit.  The manager of the other office's father died and he has been gone helping his mother deal with it.  They are way behind.  And would I come back part-time until the end of the year?

I really could do this.  MWF 8-noon at my old hourly wage.  Would pay for my new living room set and give me some Christmas money.

I've cut back my hours at the shelter, because I don't want to be taken for granted, and there are some new volunteers.  It is easy to burn out at a kill shelter.  I've been picking up my grandson only on Wednesdays lately.  He has Good News Club on Mondays, his father or his other grandmother are doing Tuesday and Thursday, and my daughter leaves right after school on Friday so he doesn't need anyone that day.

And I could walk out if she hacked me off....

OMG I'm posting from my phone. I can read all of them all in the thread. Wow. Oh Gaye. What satisfaction did you get from that call, regardless of your decision? Replacement quit? Who could have called that one? I see no problem with you at least trying it. Like you said, you can always walk.

Yes, actually;  I did think it might happen.  I didn't expect my replacement to last three months.  And in my dreams I said "no" when the boss called me, and it felt good.

But I could use the money, and it's only or 6 weeks.

I e-mailed her an offer with my proposed terms.  If she meets them, I said I would start Monday.

Do you think the ex-boss realizes that this is her issue?   Any self-reflection at all?

Wow Gaye, now you're in the drivers seat! How does that feel??? I say if she meets your terms, why not? Only temporary and extra cash. Plus if she sounds off you can tell her to bite it!!

I'd ask for more money, Gaye. At least a couple bucks more an hour! If she is desperate, she should be willing to pay. Just be careful - isn't there a certain amount you are not allowed to go over and still draw on social security? Not sure about that.....

Congrats...I guess. :) You're a smart lady, I know you did your math and are being compensated well. Good Luck!
