OMG! My Ex Boss Called

My replacement quit. The manager of the other office's father died and he has been gone helping his mother deal with it. They are way behind. And would I come back part-time until the end of the year?

I really could do this. MWF 8-noon at my old hourly wage. Would pay for my new living room set and give me some Christmas money.

I've cut back my hours at the shelter, because I don't want to be taken for granted, and there are some new volunteers. It is easy to burn out at a kill shelter. I've been picking up my grandson only on Wednesdays lately. He has Good News Club on Mondays, his father or his other grandmother are doing Tuesday and Thursday, and my daughter leaves right after school on Friday so he doesn't need anyone that day.

And I could walk out if she hacked me off....

Do you think the ex-boss realizes that this is her issue? Any self-reflection at all?

No. I've known her since 1986, and in her eyes she is never wrong. never. wrong.

She doesn't get it.

I'd ask for more money, Gaye. At least a couple bucks more an hour! If she is desperate, she should be willing to pay. Just be careful - isn't there a certain amount you are not allowed to go over and still draw on social security? Not sure about that.....

I'm getting $1.80 more per hour. If she had ever given me a raise when I was still working for her, I might have stayed longer....

Good for you Gaye!!!! And you are in the driver's seat this time. I have a feeling she is going to treat you a bit differently than she has in the past. I am also with you on not being surprised your replacement left. Just surprised she lasted as long as she did.
