Q&E Babble

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Well I am happy I didn't have to log-in this morning in order to post!!!!!

Tracy I would get a packet of Ritz and color all the fleece jackets she got.  Lot's cheaper!

I am having a hard time getting moving this morning too.  Have no idea why I feel so tired.  Need to get moving. Grocery shopping on the top of the list for today.  Along with laundry and some other errands I need to run.  Will head up to the hospital late this afternoon if my Dad is still there.  He seems to be doing a lot better so hopefully we can get him out of there soon.

Well, Mel, I think Evelyn said she would float this to the top for everyone - I think it will stay there for good, now. Just wish she would "unfloat" the PPWM thread until we can all get back in there (although I really don't think that will happen). Yay for Sandy not having to log in. Normally when I log in my information is always already in the fields, but it was completely blank this morning! Weird.

The only time I have had the Quick Reply paragraph breaks work was when I posted to say that I was sure it wouldn't work. It did then.

When I first go to this web site my screen name is showing in the uppper left corner. As soon as I open a thread it goes away and I have to log in. Sometimes, like this morning, it takes three times. But I just gut it out and it finally works.

Sandy, I wish I could dye the fleece she has. It's pretty hard to make dark purple, neon green, bright green, and navy blue any other colors. Ditto her UK blue sweatpants. I spend too much today but I got her 2 pairs of shorts, 2 workout pants, and a shirt. There is no fleece to be found now unless I want to pair for North Face or Columbia, which I assure you I do not. It's off season now. Old Navy has almost nothing left. It's the pullover ones she likes. They had zero in the store and one color left online and it was coral or orange. This is really stupid ad frustrating. I hate the way stores market stuff. If I was bathing suit shopping I'd be good. But finding cold gear in January? That's just crazy talk.

Well so much for not having to log in today.  Came back after being out and sure enough - POW!  I had to start all over again.  Oh well.

Tracy I was in Old Navy getting some work-out clothes they had on sale and they still had fleece in our store.  Guess they send more to the "colder climate" places.  I thought of you when I saw it too.

Yeah, Tracy, that is crazy that they tell you 10 days after Christmas about the new clothing rule... was it a man?  LOL

It sounds like a lot of y'all are tired like I am..... I think part of mine is post-holiday blues... I get them every year and I hate it.  I will be okay in a couple weeks but I'm still feeling a little "letdown".... or as we always say... "I'm getting that feeling again"

Just had another bowl of vegetable soup that has been simmering on and off most of the day... it's pretty yummy even though I didn't have any corn to put in it.  It's a little spicy too because I added some leftover taco meat I had in the freezer.  But, I like spicy!

Of course it was a man that made the clothing decisions. I get mad everytime I think about it. I went to Wal Mart this afternoon. A few fleece pullovers, but none in the required colors. I give up.

I am jealous of those that can still buy the winter stuff in your stores. I even asked at our Old Navy. The clerk said anything fleece they had would be in the $5 clearance section but he doubted there was much left. He was right. They did have the long sleeved compression shirts in the ON activewear section. She doesn't like those. I got her 2 pairs of compression running pants there. It'll have to do. She has a white North Face jacket she can run in. A softball team hoodie. A black/white houndstooth fleece. And a dark grey fleece with neon green under the sleeve. It is what it is at this point. I refuse to pay $80 Under Armor or North Face prices just because of a color issue. It's public school. You can't require too much without providing it. Then again, she hasn't made the team yet and is the youngest girl trying out. So you don't want to make waves. Frustrating.

I get the post-Christmas/seasonal depression blues bad this time of year too, Daisy.  I want to hibernate and not leave the house.  It's hard to get motivated to do much.

I am off to pop popcorn and watch a ghost show with the kids. I made a chicken recipe from a Pinterest pin tonight. It tasted fine but looked NOTHING like the pic in the pin and was very unappetizing to look at. Again, the taste was fine but just a white pasty looking chicken breast to look at. The pic was all crusty and brown. Highly suspect. But, it was very lo-cal: breasts tossed in plain fat free Greek yogurt that was seasoned with garlic and seasoned salt then baked. We had that with brown rice and steamed broccoli. I will go over my calories today with the popcorn but I don't think I care. I will exercise tomorrow and earn more.

My Christmas stuff stays out until Twelfth Night.  Well, that is tomorrow, but it was a warmer day today (high about 50) so I went ahead and put away the porch tree and took down the living room tree and stashed them in the garage for next year.  The wreath is still on the door.  My granddaughter made it for me, and I honestly don't know where to put it.  In Maine, Christmas wreaths tended to stay on front doors until Easter.  In the country, however, nobody ever went in and out by the front door -- always through the kitchen.  I don't think I can get away with that here, even though Easter is in March this year.

I get the Winter depression thing, too.  I hate the cold and the long hours of darkness.  Don't want to do anything that will send me into the cold.  Not even into the garage.  LOL  I went stir crazy when we lived in Maine.  It is better here, but I lost both my father and my husband in January, and that doesn't help.

With school back in session, I'm picking Rowan up Monday and Wednesday again.  I found a heck of a deal on marked-down ground meat.  Ground turkey and extra-lean ground pork.  I bought it, and a pound of ground chuck.  Froze half a pound of the turkey and froze the pork in half-pound packages.  This evening, I made a big batch of spinach meatballs with the chuck and a half pound of the turkey.  Yummy.  Can't tell the difference.  I'm taking them to Amy and the boys Monday.

I'll mix the other meat with new ground beef at a later date and make meatloaf and stuffed peppers or something.

Your meatballs sound good Gaye!

Missy, I meant to tell you that Hunter is adorable!

Here is what Luke was up to when I was in the kitchen this morning...

I think he got Presley's head and his coloring book mixed up... lol.  When I first seen it, I thought, Man alive, the veins in her head are close to the surface!  Then I realized it was marker.... good thing it was washable... lol

I know I've missed out on a lot by not being able to get here. . . . .

We had agood Christmas, nothing exciting, but then again, it never is. I always get a little sad that we don't have a big family to spend the holidays together with, but at leastit's less drama LOL

Waylon had a clinic appointment on the 3rd, so we went up on Wednesday and stayed all night, our room at the Ronald McDonald house didn't have any heat, and of couse they are totally full, so we just wrapped in blankets and made do, it wasn't too bad, just not as warm as we are all used to.

His appointment went ok, still needs to gain weight and get more "nourishment."  I need to try and get him to drink a Carnation Instant breakfast drink at least one a day. I would like to get a couple into him, but I won't press my luck. I am very releived that he is now eating, some days he eats all day long, others, it's more of a hunt and peck sort of thing LOL

His dad has been spending a lot of time with him, and Jeffrey. Jeffrey's dad hasn't seen him in about 3 months. Never called or anything over Chirstmas. Where do I find these loosers??? LOL

I am working on getting my new flooring put down, so far, I LOVE it.
