Q&E Babble
Fri, 12-21-2012 - 7:34am

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Sorry girls - I had a whole thing typed out Monday morning, but lost it and haven't had time to get back and try again. Imagine that.

Girls weekend was great!  The weather was gorgeous - sunny and warm, although with the ocean breeze, I didn't realize how MUCH sun I was getting. Sat on the deck for about 45 minutes and have a good burn on my neck, chest, nose and (not as bad) arms. It is still hurts if I happen to scratch it, and I haven't been able to wear my badge/key lanyard around my neck. It is a miracle I haven't locked myself out of my classroom the last couple days. Burn is just starting to peel now. Ick.

Pulled pork was definitely a hit - although we had way too much, of course. Got to bring almost half of it home again. Friday night was the loud, boozy night. We were all up until 2 or so drinking and visiting. Nobody was super hungover in the morning, though, which is good. Saturday we just hung out and visited, walked on the beach and around the little town, ate dinner and played "Loaded Questions". That was fun. You would have been proud of us Tracy - we managed to take almost every question to the gutter.....

Sunday morning was a quick breakfast, pack up and drive home. Since I have a mom-mobile, I drove and took four ladies and a load of stuff with me. One of the gals was having bad asthma attack Sunday- thought we might have to stop at an ER somewhere and get her some oxygen. Her inhaler and drugs weren't doing the trick. We made sure she told her daughter what was up so that she would get to the doctor as soon as we got her home.....

The worst part of the weekend was I kept remembering the state of my classroom. Friday was a teacher day, so the painter was suposed to come and paint my front wall. I have 20+ foot ceilings in my choir room, so that is no small task. I took everthing down and cleared the area for him on Thursday, and he was coming in to prep and start painting as I was leaving. Friday morning I got there and they had apparently decided to pain the entire room. Which is nice, but they had taken down all my vocabulary boards. With so much wall space, I cover huge parts of it with paper and bulletin board border strips, then put up music vocab definitions - well over a hundered piece of 8-1/2 x 11 paper with a separate word and definition on each one. Five boards, each one about 18 x10 feet. Categorized and sub-categorized and color coded on bright paper (expression terms, rhythm terms, melody and harmony, then  sub categories such as tempo, dynamics, articulation, etc.). I replace it once every 2 or 3 years, when it starts to fade and/or look ratty, I re-do it during the summer. It takes me a couple days to do. Just re-did it last August. So my room has lovely new boring beige paint and absolute no color. Kids tell me it is depressing, but I am not going to re-do it until summer. It is also loud, since that paper really helps with sound absorption. My first period kids helped me put all the drums and shelves back, and the custodian and securit guy brought the 20 foot ladders and re-hung my projector screen by 3rd period, but I still can't find stome stuff that they moved.

But girls weekend was great! :-)

Cara, your weekend sounds fantastic!  I would love a girl get-a-way like that. No laundry and no bickering kids...was it heaven?

Sandy, work is good.  John likes it and I see him MAYBE 15 minutes a day.  He's usually out driving and if he's here for lunch, he eats with the guys in the back.  He likes making the deliveries and he gets paid to mow the grass!  lol  What I think he likes the most is the 3:30 quitting time.  Last night his old boss went by and honked the horn.  He was just getting off work, IT WAS 10PM!!  I don't miss those days AT ALL!  And the girls LOVE having him home in the evenings.

Happy Birthday Miss Kynsie!

Tracy, only a man would say take pictures in the same uniforms you wore last night.

Daisy, remember your power cord!

Guess what, gals?  I ordered a new power cord AND a new battery for my laptop!!!  I also ordered 2 new batteries for my phone and a wall charger for the batteries.  I figure I am going to need them when we go to Texas, the battery in my phone now needs to be recharged around noon every day and I know I am not going to be happy with that happening while we are on vacation and/or at the wedding!

I went to check my bank balance to make sure I had enough money in there to order it and to my surprise, my tax refund was there!  I am glad because I was starting to wonder if it was going to be deposited before we went to TX.  I am feeling a lot better about going now.

My husband brought me a strawberry & cream pie from McDonalds tonight and man was it good!  They could be dangerous...

I am up past my bedtime... I guess I got all excited about my tax refund and getting to order some stuff on Amazon that it has made me more awake.. LOL.

I took these pics tonight after we picked up the kids ...

Aren't they adorable???  LOL   Every day that I have my sunglasses on, Luke says he wants sunglasses too so I keep a pair of my old ones in my purse for him.. he has loved sunglasses ever since he was PResley's age... he would always whine and moan about the sun  in his eyes (literally whine and moan because he couldn't talk yet) so I started putting sunglasses on him and he always stopped.

Presley is so darn cute... Amber usually puts her hair up in a hairbow but y'all know how daddy's are... she's lucky if she gets matching clothes when Nick gets her dressed and drops her off to his mom every day.. lol.  Amber has to lay her stuff out for him because if she doesn't, he just grabs the first shirt & pants he can find.  There's no way he'd do her hair.  Here is a couple pics of with her hair up..

Good morning.   I have more time today.   That's good because there's lots to comment on.

Guss, thanks but I think I'll pass on the 3-year old.   Those are such good times, I wouldn't want to take that from you.   When will David be home again?   5 more weeks?

Cara, that weekend does sound fabulous.   And why do I have to be called out on the gutter questions?   You know I learned everything I do from Sandy and Daisy.   And a little from Renee.   I just mastered it really well.    Note to Daisy and Renee- we need that game.

Ugh on the classroom.   My mom's school (my kid's elementary school) is being renovated starting this summer.   My mom has to move her whole room to a portable.   She has been packing up 20+ years of junk the past few weekends.   That sounds horrible too.   I keep telling her to pitch it all out.   She's teaching one more before retiring.

Daisy, I almost texted you last night to tell you to buy a cord.   I think we all have been missing you lately.   I'm so happy you got it ordered.   And happy your tax money was there.   I love that feeling.

Those grandbabies sure are cute.   And I don't know of many men that do attempt to do girl hair.

More softball today.   And baseball, not that I will get to see my son play.   I will be out of town with DD watching her game.   They are playing almost an hour away tonight.   She is supposed to be there by 5:00.   In traffic it will take an hour to get there.   She gets out of school at 4:00- same time I get off work.  We then have to go home, change clothes, and get on the road.   She won't be there by 5:00.   I will be flying out the door as quick as we can though.   And then home around 11:00 tonight.   I know I will miss this when it's gone, but still, there are some nights that just make me sigh.

Yawn - sorry - it's dark and kind of gloomy out and I am having a hard time waking up.  Think I need more coffee.

Sandy, the wedding is June 8th.  Ashleigh, Sheryl and I are leaving on Wednesday June 5th and will return Wednesday June 12th.  My hubby, Amber, Nick and the kids are leaving Thursday, June 6th and will return Monday, June 10th... a really quick trip for them.  Amber wanted to stay longer but Nick and my hubby do not have much vacation time.  I'm glad my hubby is going with them, not sure how much help he will be but I am glad he will be with them traveling with 2 toddlers, or whatever a 1 & 2 year old are called nowadays.

My parents are leaving Tuesday, June 4th and returning Tuesday June 11th.  It is going to be CWAZY in that house... Amber, Nick and the kids will be in a Drury Inn closeby but the rest of us, including Sheryl and my parents will be at Susan's.

My BIL's sister, who lives about 3 miles from me, is flying in for the wedding but she is going to stay at a hotel too.  Her husband cannot go so I think Jim is going to flee to her room to get some rest... lol.  It's okay with her, she loves it... she's about 13 years older than him and I think she dotes on him like a mother would.... and I think HE loves that although he always acts like it gets on his nerves.

Well, I need to leave in about 15 minutes to take my mom for her 4th chemotherapy treatment.  I sure hope she doesn't talk the whole time again... but I think she will.  i don't know what she takes to make her so talkative but, she mumbles the whole time because of the meds they give her which make her sleepy.  I really hope and pray that she just gives in and goes to sleep instead of fighting it talks for another 7 hours today!

I know that there are a few of you that would love to hear your mother mumbling for 7 hours ... sorry about that... i do not mean to sound uncaring and of course I love her.

Sorry I didn't get to say everything I wanted to, but I have to finish up a flyer and run copies of it before I leave.  Have a great day gals... I will try to check in on y'all with my kindle at the dr. office.
