Q&E Babble
Fri, 12-21-2012 - 7:34am

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Morning Ladies -

Yes Renee we did go to the art museum and it was fun!  Don't feel bad about working today, so am I.

Daisy your office is looking good!  I still see boxes in there - lol!

It is cold outside this morning and they are calling for snow late this afternoon and into Tuesday morning.  YUCK!  Makes me just want to crawl back into bed.

Tracy how was your get-a-way?

Yeah, Sandy....I'm afraid I am taking quite a long time to put all the boxes away... but, I am making progress.  We are having an "open house" type thing on the 31st so I am sure I will be pushed to have it done by then for sure,  that only leaves me 10 days.... lol.

I am one of the unfortunate ones who has to work today also.... no MLK day for me!

I can't believe Chase is a year old already... but then again, Presley will be 1 year on the 24th of February.... boy time sure does go by WAY too fast!!  I'm sure you took pics, Renee.... I'd love to see some!

Cara, I meant to comment earlier on the Maxine pic you posted.... I think I am the other way around... I look forward to the cold weather so I can get some relief from the hot flashes!  But, if and when I ever DO get cold, it would be nice to be able to conjure up a hot flash on demand... lol.

Well, I better get to work on one of these boxes.... ugh!

I'd love to see pictures too.   Already one.   Wow.   And Evey being 3 blows me away.  She'll be off to preschool before we know it.

I had a great trip.   We left about 10:00 Friday morning.   We drove up to Charleston for lunch.   I was there right when Carla's funeral was starting.   I had no appropriate clothes with me, but I thought about it.   I had emailed with Shelly about going too.   If the visitation had been that day I probably would have stopped just to pay my respects.

We went out to lunch at some place called Fat Patty's.   Been there, Shelly?   It was good.   We had sandwiches.   I got a turkey club and he got a turkey and ham club.   We then went to Cabela's.   I had packed my Gortex rain pants from work to wear while sledding.   I have no snow gear other than boots.   We found snow pants on sale for $14.99 so I got a pair.   Jeff got a few shirts and a heavy coat.   Lots of good sales.

We then headed on up to his house.   That night we went to a super nice steak place.   The area is saturated with skiers.   Everywhere was crowded.   This was a super cozy place with a big fireplace.   We had a great meal.   The best I have ever had up there.   We shared calimari then each got a ribeye.   It came with soup (it was a vegetarian veggie that night), salad, bread, and potato.   We were stuffed.

Then Saturday we drove up to the ski resort.  We bought our tubing passes and went to the main lodge and watched the skiers.   It was packed.   Super crowded.   We then tubed for 2 hours.   That was plenty.   We got about 14 trips down the slope.

Here is the slope.

No carrying the tube up the hill.   They had a "magic carpet."  It pulls you up the hill on a conveyer.   The tube park has only been open a week so there were tons of bugs to work out.  The conveyer kept breaking down.   We think it was overloaded.  It was really crowded.   So we did end up walking a lot.

There was a fire pit at the end of the hill where you can warm up.

Saturday night we went back into the Valley area and went to the state park lodge to eat.  They have been doing a huge renovation on the whole lodge area.   This will be much prettier when they are done.  That's an ice skating rink under the pavillion.  The ski area is in the distance.

They had a buffet at the lodge.   I got roast chicken and a small piece of prime rib.   We then went back to the house and stayed up late to watch the UK ball game.

Sunday we came home.   And I was back to reality with laundry, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping.

I think we are going to go see The Hobbit this afternoon.

Sorry that I am not commenting on anything.  I'll get back in my grove today.   And back to my healthy eating.   Can't say that I did real well the past few days.

Tracy thanks for the "tour".  Your trip sounds like fun but I have just one question for you - Where's the snow?????

It is a little eerie to think you were in the same town at the same time of Carla's funeral.  Still find that one sad. I know she wasn't around the board much for sometime now but I still feel like I lost a friend.  Like Daisy said - once a Q&E Girl always a Q&E girl.

All artificial snow.   It's just been too mild a winter so far (yay!).  There is still horrifying amounts of damage from when Sandy came through there.   I can't even describe the number of trees that were still down there.   They got a foot and a half of snow then and from what I understand, precious little since then.

Weight loss is going well.  Total so far is 3 lb, in 2 1/2 weeks.

Did some canning of beef broth over the weekend.  My MIL came over to help me.  Pretty easy, really!  I did some ham hock broth to make ham and bean soup with.  I hope that turns out good too.

Sandy - Boo hiss on the Patriots.  GO 49ERS!!!!!

Go 49ER's is  right!!!!

Susan, good job on the weight loss! Ham and bean soup is so good!

Tracy, looks like you had a fun weekend!

Sandy, glad you had fun at the museum. Nope, not looking for work. I'm on the payroll at Ray's business. Helping him answer phones and cut checks and deliver one of his big accounts on Friday mornings. It's good for now.

Kids off school today. Ray had to go on one appointment this morning then he'll be done. The girls have dance tonight.

Well then it sounds like you found a job Missy!!!!!!

Good job on the weight loss Susan and just for the record I was rooting for the 49er's yesterday.  Just would have been nice four New England to be the one to beat them in the Super Bowl.
