Q&E Babble

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Wellllll I guess I am with Sandy here on the cloth diaper thing, you have to either prewash them, or put them in a diaper pail with detergent to get some of the pee out of them, and then wash them in warm water. You figure Garrett sleeps thru the night and goes thru 6 diapers a day, so not sleeping thru the night he went thru like 10, so 24 diapers is a good start, but I would suggest more:-) LOL I considered cloth diapering Evey to be green but it just seemed like such a hassle I was like nooo, I have a costco membership and for $35 I can get a box of diapers that last about 6 weeks.  Worth it to me. Are you going to breast feed or formula feed Mel? I was going to breast feed Evey but with her brace that was kinda impossible so I didn't bother trying with Garrett, I am a lazy parent I guess.  Oh and BEST potty training advice I got was to let them go naked or almost naked then they can use the bathroom when they want, worked like a charm, I thought my MIL was crazy when she first told me that, but I guess she was right ;-/

Okay anyways Tracy your ex is a tool. I mean seriously. $25 is too much for him but he can take his gf on trips out of town? What a gem.

I love my daughter but I love when she is at school, my house is so quiet right now. All little dude does is smile and babble..all I have to do is sit by him and he is happy.  I need to get up and go work out but I really don't feel like it, I did Insanity yesterday and my legs HURT.

Alrighty maybe I will find some housework to do, there is enough of it but I am feeling lazy.

I'm lazy right there with ya Gus, I didn't breast feed either of mine.  Didn't even try.  Are you close to Ft Collins?  I saw they had evacuations with forest fires.  I hope everyone is safe.

That's okay, Susan, all the cool kids are still sporting their Valentine's Day look.   Even though we all changed them weeks ago.

I breast fed both babies.   I didn't find it to be a hassle at all.    I think I bought one canister of formula for both kids.   That was to thicken up rice cereal.   By the time I was mentally done with breast feeding, and all the stockpile I had in the freezer was gone, it was 12 months for both of them and we moved on to whole milk.

Another thought about the cloth diapers is the laundry.   I would think you can't just throw a poopy cloth diaper in with other clothes.   That's gross.   But maybe that's where the pre-wash Guss talked about comes in.   I really did want to do it for the green factor, but the disposable ones were just too easy.

Susan, I just noticed that your spring sig shows in your post that I see (as the last post in this trhead) as I write this.   I am sure we will both be hearts when I post though.

Back in the dark ages when Amy was born, early disposables were terrible, so I did the cloth diaper thing.   First you dip the soiled diaper up and down in the toilet.  Then it went into a stinky diaper pail full of water and disinfectant either in the nursery or in the bathroom. Laundry had to be done just about daily in hot water and bleach.  I didn't have a dryer, so I hung diapers on the clothes line outdoors when I could, and in the basement when I couldn't.  I worked like an old farm wife back then!

Three years later, when Christine was born, disposables were somewhat better, and Christine was born in mid-July, so we did Pampers.  Cloth diapers became burp cloths, wash rags, dust rags, polishing cloths.  They were still very useful, but not for their intended purpose.

If I were to do it again, I would have disposables, even though I am very "green" and an old hippie by nature.

Consider the water, electricity, soap, bleach, and your time and patience.

Mel, I admit know very little about cloth diapers so I have a lot of questions.    What about sizing?   Surely they can't be one size fits all.   Are they for a certain weight size and then you have to buy bigger ones?

It is still raining here.   Just so gross out.   It's been dark and gloomy all day.   I want spring.
