Q&E Babble
Fri, 12-21-2012 - 7:34am

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Shelly I saw on FB that Waylon lost weight:-( Whats the plan to help him gain? Does he have to eat meals in addition to the tube feedings???

Tracy your night sounds almost relaxed for you! Woohoo!

Missy I am glad that your DH is getting his office all set up, deocrating is fun.

So yeah on the discipline thing, time out works for me most of the time because she HATES it, I make her sit on the cold tile step, and time out doesn't begin until she stops crying. However being mean to Garrett, or  being ugly to me, usually gets her spanked. Okay so its funny she watches this show "Bo on the Go" and she was in time out on Sunday for spilling her ravioli all over the carpet(yes I am a mean mom who put her in time out for that, but she knew better she was just being silly and spilled it) and I hear her sniffling on the steps and she says "Well Bo buddies we are on the step....again, we spilled our ravioli and made a mess, what do we do to fix this friends?" LOL I was like wow....

Anyways she is at school today, and then she will come home and we will hang out, its supposed to be nice so I will toss her outside, and clean up the yard. Nothing really that exciting going on...

UGH!    Typed out a huge thing and lost it.

Susan, isn't it funny how two kids coming from the same gene pool can be so different?   I get it too with my two.   DD is crazy smart.   Even attending an all-accelerated special program and playing softball 7 days a week, with some super late school nights at the softball field, on her last report card her lowest grade was a 96%.   And Daniel, well, he's super cute.   He just doesn't care.   He has no personal motivation.   She is so self-driven.   He is content to take a B if it means he didn't have to work for it.   He manages to eke out Honor Roll a lot, but it's usually with B's.   He hates to read.   I can hardly get her to put a book down.

Yes, our school year is winding down.   May 24th is the last day.   That means I will have to work graduations all night that Friday night and all day that Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.   At least it's good money.

Shelly, I hope your throat gets to feeling better quickly.   I saw on FB where Waylon is still losing weight and you are having to do more tube feedings.   I can't imagine how frustrated you must be.   Has he met with the therapist enough times for her to have suggestions for you yet?

Sandy, I did like the name Orb, it was the hype that kept me from picking another horse.   I can't go with the favorite.   I like to be different.

Missy, sounds like we are sharing weather again.   Nasty rainy weekend here too.   Jeff and his DD are headed to Brentwood for a soccer tournament next weekend.   Is that near you?   He talked about me going with them, but I think that'd be creepy: Jeff, his DD and me in a hotel room?   Thanks anyway.

Tracy - not a big deal we didn't make it.  They start the party at 1pm with bourbon tasting, so if you're not there by 3pm, everyone is pretty well toasted by then.

Sandy - mole patrol?  lol  I can't wait to hear how the medium went either.

It's rainy, overcast, and dreary here today.  Not a great day to be tired.  DH and I both slept like crap last night.  Tossing and turning, he was snoring.  Ugh.  My co-worker is off this week for his honeymoon and I am swamped, trying to figure out where to send the service guy and he's pretty much booked for this week and of course he's off next week, and low and behold there's emergency calls coming in.  I'm ready for this week to be over!  Boy, you know it's going to be a bad week when you start wishing the week away at 10am on Monday morning!

We are out of school on the 23rd.  This year went so fast!  Come next year I'll have a 6th and 2nd grader (hopefully! lol).  Brooklyn's teacher has recommended her for Title 1 reading next year and a few summer reading classes.  I'm not overly concerned about it.  Her reading has come a long way in the last couple months, but about the time you let them sit for 3 months over the summer she would be back to square 1 and I surely don't want that.  And then there's my other daughter that's testing for the gifted class again next year.  If my girls couldn't be any more different!  lol

Shelly - have a safe (and quick) trip!

Shelly, hope it's a quick stay for you guys and you can hit the road again.

Sandy, how was the Long Island Medium?

Tracy, WTG D on the homerun! I think we may be getting out of achool the same day your guys are. May 24? i'm counting them down. Ready for them to be out and homework free.

Susan, sorry you had to miss your planned activities. Overtime is a good thing though.

Guss, you sound busy. Evey will have a blast with her activities. I danced and was a gymnast almost my whole kid life.

It rained and rained all weekend. Kelsie's soccer games were cancelled. We went to Ray's office yesterday and hung stuff on the wall. Starting to look like a real place of business. He's going to do a whole wall of Nebraska stuff. We have a ton of it.

Tracy ~ Glad you have a simi-free day. And only 2 more weeks??? Really?? I need to check our calander!!!!

Well, I wanted to say more, but need to get ready and head over to the hospital!

Morning Ladies -

Yawn - so it is Monday morning and back to work I go.  But 1st I have a doctor's appointment at 8:30 am - it's mole patrol time.

Tracy I am surprised the name "Orb" kept you from picking him to win.  That's interesting to me.  I got more of orbit around the moon feel not "orb" feel - lol!  Only two more Mondays for you?  Wow!  Oh and no more little kids in your house soon?  Double wow!

Well I need to get going - have a good day everyone.

Yuck, it's Monday again.  I hope this Q&E quiet doesn't keep going this week.   I miss it when it's not busy here.

Susan, sorry you missed your Derby party.   But extra pay is always welcome.   I couldn't pick Orb as my horse, even though I loved the name because of it's ties to ghost hunting.   That was the favorite here all week and I never like the pick the favorite.   But the trainer is a Lexington man, he and I went to the same high school, and Orb is a KY bred horse so that's good.

I totally agree with your theory on there not being enough discipline in the world now.   I see it all day long; the parents that figure it's easier to be their kid's friend than it is to be their parent.   It is easier to just be a friend.   But it doesn't pay off.   The kids have friends their own age, or they should.   Kids need an ultimate authority figure.   I was terrified of my mom.   I think that's the way it should be.

We are sort of sports free today.   I think DD is having withdrawls.   Thursday was moved to 2 Varsity games instead of JV and V.   The first time we were supposed to play it was a rain-out.   You have to get those games made up for tournament seating.  This weekend was a V tournament.   And now tonight the school we are set to play called to cancel the JV game.   They have a chorus concert tonight and too many girls will be out for it.   So, 5 games without swinging a bat.   Wow, she'll be rusty tomorrow.

But that means we have a sort of free night.   I have to help set up concessions, then go home to change and let DD change.   I'll run her back to the field so she can watch the game and then I'll get DS from my parent's house.  I'm going to make spaghetti since it's easy.   He and I will eat, then I'll go get her when the game is over and let her eat late.  A lot of running, but at least none of it is far from my house.

3 more weeks of school: 2 more Monday wake ups.   I am seeing the end in sight.   But, on the sad side, only 15 more days for my little guy to be an elementary school kid.

I'm here, just been running this weekend, and being lazy!! LOL

Renee ~ Loved the pinatia(or however it is spelled LOL) and the pool will be a big hit!!!

Tracy ~ I LOVE reading about your kids and their games!! And yes, I would say the horse betting and genetics is only in KY lol but I think it's a great way to "personalize" the information!

I am headed to Pittsburgh today, Waylon has a clinic appointment in the morning at 8:30, we have a Ronald McDonald room waiting for us. We can check in between 2-8 so I am in no hurry.  I have ironed and starched P's work shirts for him, have my suitcase packed, just need toput the computer and our meds in.  I have 2 loads of laundy in washing and drying, so I can finish packing P's stuf up.  Jeffrey is all packed and up at granny's already, he stayed up there last night, said he had cuddled me enough and wanted to cuddle her LOL

My baby is growingup on me :(  Here is him Thursday evening after he had his tooth pulled (it was a jaw tooth, had a cavity in it and it was filled, but was hurting so....)

Well, need to do my dishes and take out the trash. Have a great Sunday!
