Q&E Babble

Okay, I give.   I am doing it.   I miss PPWM too much.

I want to babble.   I think you all want to babble.  So let’s babble here and then go back to PPWM when they finally get us fixed.   I know, it’s discouraging now, but I am too optimistic for my own good.   I do think iVillage will get this mess fixed.   One day.

For those not on FB, Shelly is monitoring Waylon, debating on a trip to Pitt.   He ran a fever all day yesterday and most of the night.   At her last check in, he’s down to 99.   She’s calling the coordinator this morning.

I had my work party last night.   I took a platter of Jalapeno Cheese Grits.   I have never had 6 people ask me for a recipe before.   I heard they were, “on point” and “ready.”  I love it when I bring the most popular dish.   There wasn’t a scrap left.

Off to get dressed for work.   As of 3:00 today I am done until January 2nd.   And then I can start counting down for my spring break beach trip.

Ugh. Monday again.

I have a half day sub today - Erick and I need to go sign papers for our re-finance. We are getting a 15 year loan at a lower rate and just $20 bucks a month more than our current loan, which has 21 years left on it.

Erick got back from his conference yesterday afternoon and we dashed off to choir rehearsal. He has today off, and our interest rate lock is done today, so we have to get up to the escrow office, so I took a half day. We will have time to have lunch before our appointment, so I think we are going to hit Chandler's Crab House - it is near the escrow office. Yum.

Erick is getting the boys to school - I am heading in a bit earlier so I can get my sub plans done. And Riley's science fair stuff printed.  I had to go buy a new toner drum for our printer (and it was over 100 bucks!) and it still doesn't work. Don't know what I am going to do about that - I don't have the energy to deal with it!

Oh, I would have gone to visit that teacher too, Gaye. Glad she did. Apparently I refused to watch "Lollipop Dragon" movies in 1st grade. My mom said she was called in because I turned my back on the movies and refused to watch. I guess all kids were supposed to love this dragon so I got refered to the school counselor because I didn't love him. My mom says they were all concerned that I had some mental health issues because of it. I remember meeting weekly with the counselor every year I was in elementary school. I loved her. My mom assures me it was mutual. She became my sounding board for all my kid issues. And she agreed with my mom, no mental health issues, I just thought those dragon movies were stupid.

Shelly, you will love T-ball. Here they play wee-ball at age 4 and then T-ball at 5 and 6. I can't wait for the pictures. I always think the little kids look like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs in their helmets because the helmet is always too big.

Well, we have more softball news. DD's summer team fell through. The man that was set to coach it decided that he has coached a summer team every year for the past 5 summers and this year he needs to spend some family time. I can't say that I blame him. So we were left scrambling for a team. Summer teams usually form in the fall, they practice about once a week through the winter and are then ready to hit it hard when spring league ball or the high school season ends. I found her a team. A county over. They need a catcher. My DD catches. Her dad stepped up and took her to a practice with them yesterday. She liked the team, but didn't like that she only knows one girl there. DD is ridiculously shy. It takes her forever to get to know anyone. She will have that issue on any new team. She's going back when we get home from vacation. With this team practicing on Sundays, she is now playing softball 7 days a week.

This new team said they have commited to a tournament in Gatlinburg and another town in TN already for this summer. There will be many more tournaments in KY. They are also trying to get together a trip to Myrtle Beach. If all that isn't a punch to the wallet I don't know what is. Ouch! DD's goal is to play in college. Recruiting is done almost exclusively through summer play. The coaches are busy with their own teams when the high schools are playing. If she wants to be recruited, summer ball is where it's at. I see my time and money leaving me at a rapid rate.

It's Monday. 4 days until we leave for FL. YAY!

Nothing much going on around here. We all went to mom and dad's for dinner - BBQ ribs, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy. YUM YUM All 3 of the "boys" are in bed asleep. I am up watching Duck Dynasty, love this show!

Tracy ~ I signed Jeffrey up for T/baseball/softball, which ever one it is for his age.  I don'tthink practice starts for them until April sometime.  And there is no way we will be 1/2 as busy as you, but Iam excited, and he seems to be. I just wish Waylon was well enough to participate.

Tomorrow is more blood work for him, and then some re-peat labs later on in the week I am sure. Tuesday I go to Charleston to have my oil changed, lunch out with momma and then shopping for the Easter parties at school.

Waylon's teacher will be coming Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to help him get caught up.

Thursday I go have the cysts on my head taken out.

Laundry needs done and the boys room needs picked up and stuff taken to the mission. They make me soooo mad, but nothing I have done works on them. Ugggg their room is always a mess, and they "can't" clean it. All they do is shuffle things around. Grrrrrrrrrr

Well, time to hook Waylon's tube feeds up. Night!!!

My Christine was expelled from the first grade.  She had a clueless first-year teacher in a one-elementary-school hick town in Maine, and she cried all the time.  So she was sent to the principal's office, where he paddled her and she bit him.  Mr. Riddell sent her home and told us we could keep her there until she reached the legal age when school attendance became mandatory.  He also said Christine would never amount to anything.

LOL.  Christine graduated Magna Cum Laude in International Business from the University of North Texas, and when she went back to visit Maine as an adult she made a point to go visit Mr. Riddell.  Of course she did!

DH said to his brother, that we may not have a place to stay in Ottawa... We havent really talked about other plans, if this doesnt work out... Im hoping it does work out! :) both BIL and SIL have said we are always welcome to stay there, as long as they have notice!  so hopefully they will be okay with it! BIL will be working, but SIL has pretty bad fibromyalgia, and isnt working right now....

I had a nap, and now I feel like a zombie... Im going to have grilled cheese and hot dog toasted sandwiches( on pita bread) for dinner lol. Just had a smoothie, so I did get some spinach in today!

Sounds just like my son, Cara.   I bet they take the same thing.   I only medicate Daniel on school days too.   It's an 8-hour dose and when it's gone it's gone.  He likes it.   He says he does better when he takes it.

Hey Renee, I saw this on FB the other day and meant to give you an atta girl.   Molly was venting on having to leave her babies to go to work and Casey chimed in with this, "I question it too Moll, especially when I was working two jobs and going to school. It sucks forsure, but you know us Bailey's, we were raised to work for what we got."   I loved it.   You did good, Mom.

Both my boys are on ADD meds, too - neither of them have the hyperactive part either, but it sure helps them focus in class. We don't give it to them unless they are going to school - or, like yesterday when Riley needed to focus on his science fair project.  It isn't the answer for every kid, and I totally understand why parents don't want to medicate, but most of the kids I have talked to about it (the hyper ones, especially) WANT to feel in control of themselves, and it makes all the difference.  Kindergarten/first grade does seem early, but if she is not able to function in the classroom, it may be what she needs. Better to get her on track now than wait and let her fall behind. A good doctor makes a difference - it can take a lot of trial and error to find the right med and dose, and you have to really keep an eye on sleep/eating and growth.

I don't understand the suspension thing, either. Who suspends a kindergartner??? Unless she was actually beating up on other kids, or constantly harrassing them, I can't imagine that happening in my district. And she would have been sent to the site team (school psychologist, special ed, counselor and classroom teacher) to  try different interventions and possibly recommend testing for services long before it got to the point of suspension. If the parent refused testing and the interventions weren't working.... maybe.

Good morning. My day flew by yesterday. I worked for 2 hours helping to clean out the concession stand. It was nasty. Then I got home, changed, and DD and I left for the ball park. It was 11:10. We got home at 6:40. It was nice, not cold. I actually got sun on my face. I think it was up to 58°. Not great, but better than today. It's rainy and cold out today, with a prediction of snow overnight. ARG!! I then grilled us hamburgers for supper, started laundry, and got the dessert made for our family dinner tonight. I found The Blind Side on TV. The kids had never seen it. We watched it, all 3 hours of it. Love that movie.

Renee, I remember you saying a long time ago you though K needed medication. Glad Molly is open to that now. I did it with DS about this time last year. I had to fight the ex tooth and nail on it but I won. DS isn't hyper, but so distractable. He wasn't finishing tests and bringing home loads more homework than his friends. They were finishing in class. The medication has helped him focus.

As for the school suspending Kynsie twice, that is horrible. I cannot imagine. She is 5 or 6. Suspension is not an appropriate consequence. I can't figure out how the school thinks that it is. I hope the new school is a better fit.

And happy anniversary week!

Mel, I'm a little confused on your vacation falling through. If E's house sells you aren't going because you'll have no place to stay and if it doesn't sell by June, you will go? Is that right? If you can't stay with him do you have any other ideas? I think vacations are important. Everyone needs a getaway.

Off to start cleaning. Today I have to clean, fold and iron (laundry is all washed), put clothes away, go to the library, get my toes done, get DS's history project done, and pack for FL. Supper is at my parent's house. I can do this.
