QOTD for FRIDAY
11

I was reading something the other day about United Airlines briefly starting to reuse the flight numbers from the flights that terrorists hi-jacked on 911 but then stopped.

What do you think about United Airlines reusing the flight numbers from the 911 crashes?

I agree to, Sandy.... I'm sorry to say that I had to shield myself from the sadness of it. I could not watch any more of it on tv so I turned the channel and we watched Polar Express with Luke. It was a good diversion but that sick feeling is still in the pit of my stomach.

They interviewed a Dad of a 6 year old that was killed.  He said he spent all day and night at the fire station near the school because he could not bear the thought of walking into his house.  How gutch wrenching is that?

I was at the check-out counter in Trader Joe's just a little while ago.  A Dad at the next counter over was yelling at his son who was probably 5 - 6 years old.  I said to the gal at the register and the lady next to me that no parent should be yelling at their child today.  They should all be hugging them a little tighter.  They both agreeded with me.

The whole country is stunned about that, Sandy. Very very sad but relieved that that nut is gone!

Well there is one less nut in the world today.  There was a shooting at an elementary school in our state this morning.  The gunman (who they believe to be around 20 and a father of a student at the school) opened fire inside the school.  So far 27 are dead - the gunman, along with 8 other adults and the rest are children.  The last I read they expected that number to go up.  Ten days before Christmas.  How sad is that?  The town it happened in is about 45 minutes away from where we live and it is a quite little town.  Not someplace you would expect it to happen in.

You're right, Sandy.... there probably ARE some nuts that would try to do that! Hardly anything shocks me anymore and I find that very sad.

Not to mention the fact there would probably be someone out there trying to make a name for themselves and take down the plane with the reused flight number.

Susan said everything I was thinking- respect issue.  And they can find other numbers.

I agree.  Its more of a respect issue.  There are more than enough number combos they can come up with.

I don't think they should reuse them.  The main reason is that it is the respectful thing to do.  I am sure those numbers are burned into the brains of the family members & friends of the victims and if one of them were to book a flight that happened to have the same number, I can't imagine the kinds of feelings that would invoke.  I do not thing those are unlucky numbers or anything like that... just that they shouldn't reuse them to honor those who died that day.
