QOTD for MONDAY

In thinking about cooking for Thanksgiving, I came up with this question.

Is there a dish (I was thinking dessert, but it can be anything) that you only cook once or twice a year, saving it for special occasions, but when you are making it you wonder why you don't make it more often?

Mine is my coconut cream pie. It's Jeff's favorite dessert in the world, which is why I started making it for Thanksgiving. Before that I was content with the pumpkin pie (and my mom also makes pecan pie, which I never eat). I too love my coconut pies. Why I only make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas I don't know.

Corn pudding and spinach casserole could make the list too. My DD will inhale the spinach. Why don't I make it more often? And we all tear up the corn pudding. Again, why don't I make it any other time?

I can't think of any.  If I did have any, I would say its because of the portion size though.  I don't really need a 9x13 pan of something for us 4.

Tracy - I would like the spinach casserole recipe.  Natalie was eating it straight out of the bag the other day!!

Turkey here too.... I never make a whole turkey except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  I will make a turkey roll/roast but never the whole bird.  I realize a whole turkey would be too much for us 3 for one supper but I LOVE leftovers... espcially a turkey sandwich on fresh white bread with lots of mayo,. salt & pepper.... so why not freeze them?  Hmmmm

I can put broccoli casserole on that list too.... i absolutely love it and so does everyone else but for some reason I never cook it except on holidays.

I would have to say turkey, stuffing or pumpkin pie. I never cook any of those things unless it's Thanksgiving.

No, not really, since it is such a smal "crowd" for Thanksgiving, we don't make an abundance of dishes different dishes.
