Have you ever had a body part waxed?

Nope - with the thyroid meds I take, though, my eyebrows have definitely thickened, and my upper lip is getting worse, too (I bleach that). I have been thinking aboud threading - I know we have a couple of shops (not mall kiosks - can't believe people sit in the middle of the mall to have that done) owned and operated by Indian and Middle Eastern women that get rave reviews. Just need to get my nerve up to do it!
I have never had anything waxed- and I am sure I don't want to !
I waxed a 2"x6"-ish sized patch on my right shin...ONCE. I lost the top layer of nearly all the skin there, and it didn't even remove all the hair in the area! So, needless to say, NEVER AGAIN!
Along that vein, I also tried electrolysis...ONCE. Who in their right mind would be ok with sticking a needle into the shaft of your hair and then electrocuting it?!?! Um...apparently, I was...once. I don't care what they say, there are NERVES under there!
I'm prone to razor burn, so most recently, I have been considering laser hair removal as an alternative, but it's a little on the pricey side. If anyone has any good shaving cream brands or even homemade formulas, I'm all ears! :)
Hey Allison, welcome to Quick & Easy Recipes! Glad you found us... things have been kinda sorta slow around here since iVillage message boards went through some major tweaking!
All those hair removal systems sound painful to me... luckily, as I have aged, my hair growth has slowed considerably... except on my face! Ugh... heck, I'd rather have to shave my legs than my chin! LOL
I've tried Nair in the past and it was okay... stinky but okay. Hope that you will hang out with us.. I'm afraid we are practically begging for regular members since we lost a lot of our regulars when it was such a pain to sign in and post here.
