(stolen from a board over on In the Kitchen)
There is a huge box of assorted doughnuts just waiting for you to pick one. What do you choose?
I found a new love at Munkomobilen, a peach and vanilla filled doughnut, YUM.
Hands down its Long Johns with cream inside..
7-11 has fresh doughnuts quite early around here and the BP Gas station is open at 4:30 and they have doughnuts- but they are delivered the night before.. Meijers and Wal Mart are open 24 hrs and they have doughnuts..
We don't even have a bakery in our town..
Sandy, shame on you. I can't believe you let the hole oozing white goo comment go.
The last time I got a doughnut at Wal-Mart I was so disappointed. It was round, caramel glazed, with a little "ooze hole" poked in the side. You know what I am talking about. I tore it up, prepared to only eat bites with the cream filling on them. Not one iota of cream filling in there.
Renee, this summer we need to find a place with cream filled long johns. I'll have one with you.
I didn't let it go Tracy. I pointed it out!
Is a "Long John" the same as a "stick"?
Yes, but you passed on the comment. Or maybe you were letting us trainees show off our skill?
Let's see.... long john is elongated, with glaze and cream filling and a stick is elongated with cream filling.
Yes I was waiting for one of my protege to stepforward. Good job on both topics!
I never met a donut i didn't like..... yes, even the elongated jonhnson's, oops, i mean long johns with cream oozing out....
Actually, that's not true... i absolutely HATE the dry, round with a hole in the middle, chocolate covered or powdered sugar covered boxed donuts you get at the grocery store... like this...
If I absolutely could only pick one of any donut known to man ... it would have to be a Peanut Butter Nutty Cinnamon Roll.
Cara, we call those donuts Truck Tires... and why in the world would your bakeries not be open that early in the morning? Aren't donuts for breakfast?? I think ours open at 4 or 4:30 am.... and they are full of men sitting around visiting each other while eating their donuts and drinking their coffee!
If we actually had a regular bakery, I am sure they would be open, but all we have are grocery store bakeries near here. They are there working, but they don't have the doughnuts ready by 6:30! There was a great doughnut shop by my university - they opened at 3, so lots of people hit Franks at opening for hot doughnuts.
Donuts and coffee = Heaven
