Susan mentioned paying her car taxes last week. What vehicle fees do you have in your state?
Do you have to pay yearly taxes on your car? Emmissions tests? Regular inspections?
Ouch ! I could not imagine having to pay that every year... We pay enough taxes!
Cara what does the state park thing do ? If we pay $11 more for our plate then we can get in any state park in Michigan for free. There are 98 state parks in Mi.
That does go down as the vehicle depreciates. I think I paid $60 the last year I owned my minivan. It was 11 years old then.
The $5 was just a donation for upkeep. They give you the option to purchase a Discovery Pass (for all the state parks) for $25 when you renew your tabs, but you can also purchase that pass at other places, anytime. We have:
186 State Parks • 3 State Forests • 6 State Wildlife Areas1 State Wildlife Management Area • 26 State Recreation Areas • 1 State Natural Area6 State Fish Hatcherys • 3 National Parks • 7 National Forests2 National Historical Parks • 2 National Historic Sites • 20 National Wildlife Refuges
Discovery Pass is good only for the state ones, I think.
We only pay taxes on the vehicle when we buy it. You pay when you switch the title over to your name. Ohio and Michigan's sounds a lot alike in the tag/tax stuff for vehicles.
We pay Yearly taxes on any property we own. So last year I paid on the blazer and my house. I don't pay property taxes because it's mom and dads property.
We also have to have a yearly inspection sticker, I think it runs about $12. You have to show proof of insurance, they check tires etc to make sure the car is in good working order.
