Not too long ago I saw a woman setting out a big rubbermaid container with a few things in it- I pulled up and she actually opened my door and put it in for me !
I got a huge tug boat sand box for the day care.. Kay had been needing a walker for her babies a few months back- she told me she found one- yup setting on the curb.
I have never picked up anything at the curb but I have put out a lot of stuff at the curb. Two homes back we lived on a busy street. We were allowed by the city to put anything out on the curb and it would get picked up with the regular trash pick up.
John and I would put stuff out on the curb and then go back inside and wait to see how long it would take for someone to stop in pick it up. I think the shortest time was 10 seconds and the longest time was 5 minutes. We cleaned out our attic and basement pretty easily - lol!
Yes, in fact, it was just a few months ago. The people across the street moved and sat a mess of stuff out for the garbage truck to pick up and amongst it was a little table that I thought would be perfect for my hubby to put next to his side of the bed. I seen it when I was heading to work one morning but did not have time to nab it... so I called him and asked if he'd go get it.
I cannot think of any other time that I've picked something up... but like Sandy, we've had stuff picked up from our curb while it was waiting for the garbage pick up.
The weirdest thing anyone ever picked up? A concrete 2 basin wash tub from the basement that the washing machine water dumped into - something like this (but ours did NOT look this bad!):
.... we replaced it with a new, lighter, PVC type tub something like the one on the left of this picture:
One of the funniest times was when we put out a two seater glider that was falling apart. It looked ok but if you sat on it you ended up on the ground because all the bolts were rusted out. It got snatched right away and the nest day when we were out driving around we saw it out on the curb in front of someone elses house! It looked like this -
Nope.
If I put anything at the curb, I would get massive fine. Here you can go to the dump and at the furniture recycling area pick up furniture for free.
Nope
Yes I have !
