Our anniversary is tomorrow (Ash Wednesday this year), however the year we were married our wedding was a week and a half before Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras.

I've been to New Orleans but not during Mardi Gras. I'm pretty sure there are celebrations around here but I've never been to any.

Susan, we went to Jamaica for our honeymoon too! Where did you go? We went to Ocho Rios and stayed in an all inclusive place. Had plenty of restaurants and swim up bars to keep us happy. We did venture off to do some shopping. That was scary. We also went to Dunns River Falls. That was cool! We did some snorkeling and horse back riding! Fun times!

We were on the other side of the island on Montego Bay. We did the all inclusive thing too. Personally, I think its the only way to go! After driving to the resort and seeing the little broken down towns, we decided to stay on the resort! We didn't go to Dunn's River Falls because with driving and site seeing, it would have taken the entire day. And we had already lost a day because of bad weather flying out of Ohio. What idiots get married in February in Ohio and then plan to fly! ;) LOL

No, in spite of how close I am, I have never been to New Orleans.

Arlington doesn't do anything for Mardi Gras, either.

I have always wanted to go to New Orleans... it's on my "to do" list... but like a few of you, I thought I wanted to go during Mardi Gras but seeing how out of control things get, it doesn't appeal to me any more at all.

No real celebrations around here that I know of- just lots of paczkis in the stores- I had a bite of one yesterday..

Have wanted to go to New Orleans- but as I get older not really so much anymore..

I guess I've been living under a rock.... or I knew it but totally forgot about it.... I had no idea that "Mardi Gras" litterally means "Fat Tuesday".... I had heard both terms but never put 2+2 together that the term "mardi gras" translates to "fat tuesday".... weird....

Paczki's were everywhere here too, Renee.....
