* How are you with the progress of your Christmas shopping? ** Pretty good - done with everything except helping the boys pick out Erick's gifts and stocking stuff.

* When do you normally put up your Christmas tree? *** Now that we have our prelit artificial, we put it up Thanksgiving weekend.

* When does it normally come down? *** Before we go back to school - we could keep it up all 12 days this year, as we don't go back until Jan. 7. That is later than usual.

* How many Christmas parties do you have this year, including family?*** Both Erick and I have our work parties, and then family stuff on the actual day.

* Are you in the Christmas spirit this year? *** mostly. I was in a real funk over this last weekend, but before that I was really in the holiday mood. Feeling better now. It can be hard to stay merry with all the concert stress.

* Do you decorate the outside of your house?*** We have in the past, but since we put up new gutters with the leaf filters we can't mount our house lights. We have some net lights for the bushes, but haven't gotten them out this year. It has been raining a lot!

* How are you with the progress of your Christmas shopping?

pretty good.  I have to get my big Santa gift yet, MIL, my grandma, and one shirt for Brooks

* When do you normally put up your Christmas tree?

Thanksgiving weekend

* When does it normally come down?

Depends on my mood.  Most likely the weekend after Christmas.  I like the house clean and decluttered for the New Year.

* How many Christmas parties do you have this year, including family?

DH's work was last weekend, my work is a luncheon on the 21st, DH new job is on Christmas Eve after work (they only work a 1/2 day), K Christmas on the 22nd, MIL on 23rd, Mom and Dad 24th, Grandma 25th and then most likely going out to visit MIL for supper.

* Are you in the Christmas spirit this year?

Not really.  I've gone through all the motions (decorating, shopping, etc) but it doesn't feel Christmasy.  The weather man said there is a possibility that there could be snow for Christmas!!!

* Do you decorate the outside of your house?

Nope, but I want to buy lights after Christmas (on sale) for next year.

* How are you with the progress of your Christmas shopping? Not too bad.  I have 4 more people to get gifts for but I know what I am getting - just need to go get them.  Hopefully I will be done by the weekend

* When do you normally put up your Christmas tree? Right after Thanksgiving.

* When does it normally come down? Sometime between Christmas and New Year's.

* How many Christmas parties do you have this year, including family Not counting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we have were invited to 4 parties.  One was last Saturday that we cancelled out on because of my FIL being in the hospital.  We have two this week (Thursday & Friday) and one the Saturday before Christmas.  My office party is this Friday and John is coming - John's office party is Friday the 21st but it is at noon and I probably won't go to that one.  The one this Thursday is one of his clients and is at a very pretty place and the one a week from Saturday is a family party at John's cousin's house.  We are having a big get together on Christmas Eve and it looks like we are up to around 24 people right now - how did I ever let that happen?????

* Are you in the Christmas spirit this year? I was but then I lost it with all the health stuff happening with my Dad and FIL.  Hope to get some of it back.  I keep trying.  Need to sit and watch a good Christmas movie and have a good cry - that should help - LOL.

* Do you decorate the outside of your house? Well we can not put out lights (condo association rule) but I do have a real wreath on our front door, a kissing ball hanging out there and an urn filled with greens etc. on the stoop. It really looks quite pretty even if I do say so myself.

* How are you with the progress of your Christmas shopping?   Just about done.   I forgot Jeff’s mom.   I’ll get her something and then I will be done.

* When do you normally put up your Christmas tree?  Usually the weekend before Thanksgiving.

* When does it normally come down?   There will not be a shred of Christmas visible in my house by noon on the 26th.

* How many Christmas parties do you have this year, including family?  4:  family, my old swim team always does a reunion, and I will have a work party both for the school I work in and my department

* Are you in the Christmas spirit this year?  Yes, big time

* Do you decorate the outside of your house?  Yes, but it’s just a strand of lights across the gutter, some plastic candy canes lining my walk, and a Christmas flag.   The lights are LEDs that alternate red to green.   I also have red candles in my windows.

Tracy - those candy cane things...are the lights strung at the bottom? I want to get some for our driveway, but DH said that he would hesitate because if we actually got snow before Christmas he would want snow piled up on them or a plow taking out the wires.

* How are you with the progress of your Christmas shopping?  Funny you asked that… I had insomnia last night and did not sleep at all… well, until ½ hour before it was time for me to get ready for work, that is.  Anyway…. I was up and typed up this l-o-n-g drawn out post complaining about not having money to shop but all of a sudden my computer did a Windows update on its own and shut down right in the middle and I lost every bit of it!  I guess it wasn’t meant for me to whine & complain to y’all about my financial woes… lol.  Anyway… I still have to finish up Ashleigh & Luke and I have to START on Amber, Nick & Presley!  Do have those 8 pesky great-grand nieces & nephews done though.  I think this just might be the last year I buy for them though.

* When do you normally put up your Christmas tree?  The Saturday before Thanksgiving.  We used to put it up the Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving but Amber wanted to put hers up that day but she still wanted to help us put ours up so we put ours up a week earlier so Amber, Luke & Presley can come help us and we make a day out of it.  I actually like the look of my Christmas tree (only Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving, nothing else!) with my autumnal/Thanksgiving decorations up.

* When does it normally come down?  Well, for a long time, we took it down the day after Christmas.  But, when my sister moved to Texas, she asked if we would keep it up for the time that she is here… which is usually January 1st or 2nd so whenever she leaves, we take it down.

* How many Christmas parties do you have this year, including family?  I don’t have any “parties” to go to this year… kind of sad… we will have 2 family gatherings… hubby’s side on the 22nd and my family celebration will be the 25th.  On Christmas morning around 10:00 am, Amber, Nick, Luke & Pres will come over for breakfast & opening presents (we open with each other & Ash at this time) then in the afternoon, my parents come over for supper and Nick & Amber usually come back for that.. the main reason I have it later in the afternoon is so they will be able to come after they go to Nick’s family house(s)… don’t get me started on that!  Then later that evening, Sheryl and her mom (my mom’s sister) will come over and Amber, Luke, Pres & maybe Nick will come back (if they had to go to another house on Nick’s side of the family) to play games!).

* Are you in the Christmas spirit this year?  Not really…. Another big part of my lost gripe session in the middle of the night last night…. Cannot decorate my office at all since we’re moving… can’t decorate my new office cuz we aren’t moved in yet… we are not having a Christmas party at work because we are all working out of boxes (although I am going to try to push at least a little celebration at our staff meeting next week!)…. Struggling financially with that stupid water heater going out, then some spring broke in the engine of my car motor which was an arm & leg and I’ve had 2 flat tires within 3 weeks!  I hate not being able to buy without worrying if I will have enough money to buy for Christmas AND pay my bills… and I think the clincher is the lack of snow…. I hate the way it looks outside… brown grass, brown trees, mud, dirt and all the litter along the roads & stuff is showing because it hasn’t snowed and covered any of it up yet!  I need some snow and cold weather to help me get in the Christmas Spirit… Plus, I’ve been sick for a week now… I absolutely hate the warm/cold/warm/cold weather we’ve been having… it is playing major havoc on my sinuses & allergies!!  Mother Nature… would it be too much to ask for some below freezing temperatures and a couple inches of snow before Christmas???  LOL

* Do you decorate the outside of your house?  My husband puts those net-lights on the bushes outside the house.  He used to go hog-wild and put them all along the roof line and up & down both sides of the driveway & sidewalk.  He also had a light up nativity scene we put on the porch but Baby Jesus got baby-napped by my crazy, practical joker daughters and attached to the back bumper of one of their friend’s pickup truck and we haven’t replaced him yet.

I forgot to mention a couple other things that did not help my insomnia/down in the dumps gripe session last night... lol.

I have my every 6 months appointment Friday with my oncologist.  I always get a little antsy before them.  I had my blood drawn last week so the results will be there when I see the dr.  I have only once had any abnormalities in my blood work and even then it was fine on the repeat.  But... like I said... I do get a little scared, nervous & restless before each one.

Then....... Amber took Presley to the pediatrician yesterday for her 9 month check up.  He noticed that the folds in her chubby little thighs were not symmetrical so he had her get an x-ray for hip dysplasia.  I know it's not a life threatening thing and it could have been a whole lot worse... but I was still thinking about it and it kept me awake.  Here's the pic Amber sent me when she was waiting for the dr. to come in...

Okay, I think that does it for my griping for today... thx for letting me unload on you gals...

I think so too, Susan! LOL Good news.... dr. called Amber today to say Presley does NOT have hip dysplasia... YAY!!! But, he did tell her she is in the 10th percentile in height... Luke is too.... both of them seem to have their daddy's side of the family's short heights so far.
