Do you collect anything?
If so, how do you display them?
Use to but not any more.
Nope - don't collect anything, really. I collected penguin stuff when I was young, but lost interest in that long ago. DH has a collection of pint glasses, but they are in use, not sitting on a shelf. And I guess you might say we collect instruments..... piano, banjo, accordian, two ukuleles, two guitars, an electric guitar, djembe, mountain dulcimer, keyboard, drum set, recorders, harmonica, ocarina, etc. But those are all used at least occasionally, not really displayed in a collection. Sure wish we had a room for all of them!
Does clutter count as a collection? Bwhahahahahaha
I do have a lot of baskets - mostly Longaberger, but a few that are not.
I also have a mass of finger nail polish.
My parents bought me a hanging wrought iron "tree" that my baskets hang on. I LOVE it.
I have a shadow box type shelf that my finger nail polish sits on. I don't have a picture of it.
I use to collect cookbooks. Normally, now, I only buy the "home made" cookbooks that local organizations, churches, groups and/or sports teams put together for fundraisers. I have a bookshelf in my kitchen for them. I am on my 2nd bookshelf which is bigger than the first.
I sort of have a revolving collecting thing with my kitchen... whatever theme I have the kitchen decorated in. At first, when we moved into the house it was the white geese with a powder blue & yellow color as accents... everybody got me (including my husband) white geese stuff with blue and/or yellow accents.
Then it moved to something else I do not remember, but in there was a sunflower theme... and now the kitchen is Coca-Cola... every theme HAS to involve a yellow color though because the people who lived in my house before me decided it would be a good thing to have yellow formica countertops and backsplashes. One of these days I am going to save up enough money to have that replaced along with my dining room floor.
I did and still do collect Americana things... red, white, blue, stars & stripes..... I love that stuff! I have my patio decorated in it. I used to have my bathroom decorated in it... but when I started getting strength and ambition back after I finished chemotherapy and radiation, I got a bee in my bonnet to re-do my bathroom. I went to the store on a whim, bought a shower curtain that I liked, bought paint to match it, bathroom towels & washclothes and other bathroom accessories to match the shower curtain and went to town! I wish, now, that I had waited and thought about it longer... lol.
Also collected Beanie Babies I bought them for my girls to play with and I thought they were adorable... then the Beanie Baby fad went wild! Ashleigh had picked out "Righty" and actually played with it and took the tags off.... after the people went crazy for them, someone told me that if she hadn't played with it and messed it up it would have been worth over $300! Wow... oh well.... all my beanies are in rubbermaid tubs in the basement. Hopefully my grandkids will enjoy them someday..
I used to... not anymore... kinda silly to collect squirrel stuff in Canada, when my in laws like to kill them and give them to the cats LOL
