What/Where was your first job?
How old were you?
Sorry so late gals... I don't know why but I seem to not be able to get anything done at work lately. I just hate interruptions!
What/Where was your first job? I sold popcorn at a local venue where they held concerts, showed travelogues, held boat/recreational vehicle/car shows, circus, etc. I worked right across from the admission door (where my daddy worked taking tickets) and we started popping that popcorn about 30 minutes before the doors opened so the people waiting in the lobby could smell it. Our stand was packed all the time and there were at least 4 or 5 other stands throughout the building. My mom worked with me at that popcorn stand too. It was a very exciting job for me because I got to see MANY concerts and personally meet a lot of celebrities from back in the day. I loved that job... really loved it!
How old were you? I had just turned 15. I had to get a special permit from the city to work at that age since the normal age was 16.
We had some family friends that owned a gas station, motel and resturant. I worked a few days a week in the summer filling in for people on vacations. Mostly in cleaning the motel rooms. Maybe that's why I don't like cleaning house?!?! LOL
I wrapped presents at Montgomery Wards at Christmas. I was 16 or 17.
My first job was at an ice cream place. They also had some menu items, hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, etc. I was 15 when I started there. It was about 4 blocks from our house, so I rode my bike there.
Forgot to add mine was the summer I turned 18, right after I graudated from high school.
I was 18. it was at a grocery store called Coles, I ended up staying with them for 7 years! I had a few job interviews before that, but never got the job because I was in the school band, so that meant I couldnt work certain nights.
The first job I interviewed for and got was with the public library. I was a page. I returned books to the shelves once they were returned and checked back in. Then when that was caught up I cleaned and shelf read. Shelf reading is tracking the stacks of books to make sure they are in the right order.
Well if you do not count babysitting my 1st real job was when I was 16 and I help set up a new department store in our area. It was suppose to be a temp assignment till they opened the store. They asked me if I wanted to stay on once the store opened - I gave it a shot but my Mom told me if I didn't want to work after school and on weekends it was ok with them. She said you are only young once and once you are out of school you will be woking for a long time. How right she was!
