My beef and noodles answer to Tracy's QOTD on Monday got me thinking...

Which type of egg noodle do you like best?  thin, medium, wide, curly, other?

Do you need to have a certain type of noodle with a certain meal?

Same with spaghetti noodles?  angel hair, regular, linguine?

I had to go look and see what the bag says - I buy the store brand wide ones. I don't think they have a lot of different choices at my store....

Not really - we use whatever pasta is in the house.

I really like angel hair, but Erick is not a  big fan, and Riley just make a mess with it! I just stocked up on pasta - it was on sale for 89 cents, so we currently have small macaroni, penne, rotini, spaghetti and thin spaghetti. And orzo (from the bulk bins) and lasagna noodles. I really like farfalle and orchietti, but that brand was not on sale.

Which type of egg noodle do you like best?  Wide

Do you need to have a certain type of noodle with a certain meal?  With mac & cheese I prefer either elbow or penne.  Pasta salads I will usually use either elbow or the tri-colored rotini.  Makes the salad look better with the different colors.

Same with spaghetti noodles?  angel hair, regular, linguine?  I like Angel Hair or Thin but Ashleigh doesn't care for those so I normally just buy regular for her so I don't have to hear her complain.  lol

90% of the time it's Angel Hair. If I make a "heavy" sauce I'll use penne.

I like the tri-color one too.   I buy it when I think about it (purposely buying for a specific dish), but it's not something I keep on hand.

I always have elbow on hand too.  But when I make homemade pasta salad, I usually get the tri-color cork screw ones.

I use extra wide egg noodles.   No clue why, I just do.

I only have macaroni and spahgetti on hand.   I use the macaroni for pasta salads and macaroni and cheese.   Sometimes if I know I am making a pasta salad for a dinner somewhere I will buy bowtie pasta.

I buy thin spaghetti.   I don't like angel hair.   I think it's too thin, making it mushy when eating it.

I like them all, but DH gets cranky if I buy anything but Inn Maid (brand) medium width.

Do you need to have a certain type of noodle with a certain meal?

I don't, but reference my answer above and we always have medium.

I only use angel hair with spaghetti
