Hey LBW (sorry, don't know your name... lol)... I know what you mean about family not sticking with traditions.... my family growing up was all over the place.. we did something different every year. But, when I got married, me and my husband decided to make tradition and stick with it every year. One big one was taking my daughters and driving to the tree farm, taking a haywagon out to the tree field, picking out and cutting down a tree, taking it to the bonfire and sitting around it warming up while waiting for the hay wagon to come back and pick us up. After we got back, they put the tree on a machine to shake off all the loose needles and wrapped it in netting to make it easier to get into the house. While they were doing all that, we were inside a little area that was warm and cozy, a fireplace, a santa and lots of goodies. We could buy hot apple cider, hot chocolate, popcorn, and the girls got to sit on Santa's lap. They absolutely LOVED that... every year! When they got older, we finally decided to get an artificial tree.... you should have heard them... they were so ticked off that we no longer did our tree-cutting tradition. They STILL give me grief about it and they're 26 & 29~ LOL

I hope that you find something that you and your family all enjoy that you can make a tradition... how old are your children?
