I started thinking about Thanksgiving food prep this morning. I am sure that had nothing to do with the fact that I dreamed it was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I was just hanging out, enjoying being off work, when I realized I hadn’t started cooking any of the dishes I contribute every year. Worse than that, I hadn’t even shopped for the ingredients. So, I started looked at my recipes this morning and making a list of what I need to buy over the next few weeks.
When do you all start thinking about holiday cooking?

Erick does all our big holiday meals, so I just worry about the shopping. And if he doesn't get it on the weekly list, he shops himself.
I am watching for the Fred Meyer free turkey when you spend over $125 coupon. I can sometimes make that in just groceries, but since FM is a super store, I can also pick up Christmas gifts to make the minimum. I always get that free turkey, whether we are hosting T-day or not. This year we are, so I will be digging for the biggest one in the freezer. I am not a huge turkey fan, but last year Erick brined and smoked it - it was SO good!.
That was quite a deam Tracy!
Maggie and I both get turkeys this Wed. She wants to make dinner at her place this year. I havent thought much about it- just wondering when this baby will arrive ! I told Molly today- watch him be born on Black Friday..
Just today we figured out where we will celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm always in charge of veggie sides, so I'm going to start looking at recipes.
The day before Thanksgiving is Amy's birthday, so we will have a combined celebration at Christine's house.
Amy's gentleman friend is going up North to spend Thanksgiving with his mother and brother.
Thanksgiving lunch on my side is at my sisters and I'm in charge of apple pie and cookies. I'm going to make chocolate chip and monster cookies in advance and throw them in the freezer. My family will be doing the Turkey Trot 5k the morning of Thanksgiving, so all I'll have to do is throw the pie together.
on DH's side we haven't decided when it is yet. They are talking about Thanksgiving Friday for supper. MIL never asks for help with anything (even though I ask).
I can't believe its Thanksgiving time again! I like having the dinner at my house. But in our family we do let everyone who will be at the dinner to bring their favorite course. I supply the turkey and the stuffing. My sister brings pies. My aunt brings veggies and dips. My brother and his wife bring the sweet potato stuffed with marshmellows. The grannies bring cookies. I also supply the booze. So everyone is involved.
Hello and welcome. I'm not sure what to call you, so Ba23 will have to do. I like the booze part of your meal. We need to amp that up over at my house.
What about the weather. Anyone getting a turkey day weather forecast yet? I just saw ours for the first time. The weather guy is saying 62° and sunny. Wow! I'll take it.
