Thanksgiving Recipe Short Cuts

I wanted to pass along the following link that contains some suggestions on making Thanksgiving dinner a bit easier to put together:

My one cheat is to use frozen roll dough instead of homemade.  I can never get my rolls to taste as good, and it takes some of the stress out of getting the meal to the table!

What are some of your favorite shortcuts?

Once upon a time, we had a food chat room that was one of the busiest places you ever saw.  Members stood in line to get in, and we ran 'round the clock.  But T-day and Christmas were the best.  I sort of took over the chat room, over time, and became the guru of "Turkey 911 and Football Widows' Support Help Line."  We stayed live 48 hours for each holiday, and thanks to devoted members on other sides of the globe, I occassionally got a nap.  I hosted this for YEARS.

My favorite question came in one frosty morning, "HELP!!!  I'm out of oven space!  Can I cook stuffing in the crock pot?"  I asked, "What are you making your stuffing from?"  She said, "Stove Top."  I said, "Read the box."

Most of the iVillagers who came to me with questions wanted to know when the turkey was done, and were so amused at my answer, "when you can shake hands with his leg."

I have to disagree on the frozen roll dough.  My family expects my homemade rolls to be the star of the show.  We pot luck for holiday meals, my assignments are always the gravy, the dressing made with homemade breads from home milled grains, the homemade cranberry sauce, and the homemade rolls. Bread is so easy...LOL, just let time do the work.

That's funny about the turkey leg! I enjoy making bread, but just can't get my rolls to taste as yummy. I think I need to play with some recipes, and try different flours. How do you make your gravy, I'm always looking for new ideas?
