Well, that gooey duck oyster DOES look very familiar.....LOL....  but since I am a cheese-a-holic, I will trade my gooey duck oyster for more cougar cheese!!  Sounds like it's right up my alley......

Oh, and Erick said the oyster guys had a giant geoduck ice sculpture, with actual geoducks around the base.... and he didn't get a picture! How could he not take a picture of a giant geoduck ice scupture??????? I can't believe it!

If you don't know what geoduck (that is pronounced "gooey duck" by the way) looks like, here is a pic....

There ya go, girls.... let it out.....

Cougar cheese is Cougar Gold - a really nice sharp cheddar produced by the WSU creamery (WSU being on the Eastern, agricultural side of the state). It is really, really good - we usually try to get some at Christmastime, but we missed our chance and couldn't find any this year.

I love fish and I have been trying to eat more of it.   I'm always looking for new T&T recipes.   Like Sandy, I'll pass on the salmon, but any other cuts and I am good.   I'd love to know how you cooked it, Shelly.   I posted my simplest recipe here last week.   That's how I usually end up preparing ours.

Ok I am not that picky an eater but even I wouldn't touch most the stuff on that menu - I would try -

Dungeness Crab leg prosciutto enrobed
Goat cheese on Savory Short Bread

Pan fried Washington State Qullicine Oyster
Roasted sweet corn-jalapeño fritter, Jicama cilantro slaw

 Galantines of sage Hen
  Pomegranate sauce

Chocolate Macaroons
  Rosemary infused white chocolate mousse
  Fresh raspberries

And that is about it.  I do not do lamb nor salmon so the carving station is out.  No to most of the desserts also

There is a lot of seafood which has me asking Shelly - what kind of fish did you make last night????

I did make my stir fry.   It was great.   My kids get tired of brown rice but I don't.

Cara, that's an "I'd starve" menu.   I am assuming that you can't ask the chef to put the steak tartar in the microwave for a few minutes.   It's be fun to watch his/her reaction though.

What's cougar cheese?   That one has some potential for interesting conversation.

"Potato-Apple and Dill Garlic Cougar Cheese Salad"

"Stuffed baby potatoes
Black Pepper and Chive Cheese Cougar Cheese"

"Apple Galette
Filled with organic apples
American Cheddar Cougar Cheese"

I would like the hazelnut encrusted halibut cheeks, but yuck-o on the chickpea puree and tomato and onion sides that come with it.

Erick volunteered (with the Chef's association) to help put out the Governor's Inaugural Ball food - so we are FFY'ing it tonight.

Not sure what/who he will be working with, but I expect he will be working with one of the culinary schools, cooking and helping supervise the students. Here is the menu link, if you are interested: http://wastategovball.org/menu.htm#GovMenu
