Weekend Plans?

What's going on this weekend?

My weekend is crazy.  Again.

Today I have an old friend coming to town.  I haven't seen her in 18 years.  We were super tight growing up, we swam together.   She resurfaced on FB last year.  We have talked a ton since then.  The last we spoke, we had an apartment together.   She disappeared every time the rent was due, and stayed gone until the payment window was over.  I was forced to hunt down her dad month after month to get her share of the money.  My dad always fronted her and her dad payed my dad back.  Since we grew up swimming together our families knew each other well.  Then she disappeared, taking several pieces of my furniture with her.  We have cried together over the phone many times lately.  I got a string of texts from her earlier in the week telling me how sorry she was for all the "*$?*" she put a lot of us through 20 years ago.  She said she needed to run away and grown up; which she did.  She is ready to mend all her fences and will be forever grateful for those of us that forgave her.  I am going to cry a flood when I see her.

But with my knack for bad timing, of course both kids have practice tonight and then as soon as DD's is over, we are on the road headed for our tournament hotel.  I am going to meet my friend and another of our friends for dinner.  My mom will take DD to practice.

Then we are off to Louisville to play softball.  Her tournament is an all day, one day, deal.  We will be at the park from 6:45 AM- about 9:00 that night.  So DD and I went out last night and got drinks and snacks.  We're all packed up and ready to go.

Sunday DS plays baseball out of town (and Saturday but I will miss that).  I will get to see him play then.

Cleaning house, laundry, grocery run?  Who knows when that will happen.

Hello, Ma.  I've been seeing you all over the board today.  Why don't you keep your chair handy and prop it up with us?  We love new faces.  I love the way you jumped on in here.

I'm Tracy- mom of two ball park obsessed kids in KY.  Tell us about yourself.

No big plans, we are invited to a couple of cookouts, all we have to do is show up with our chairs and some kind of side dish. I thought I would make a pasta salad with a lot of veggies.

Birthday party was a success.  Christine and Christopher had already met Mark, but Christine's children and I had not.  He seems very nice.  He had two helpings of spaghetti and meatballs and half a bottle of wine.;  Christine's girls loved him.  They commented that Aunt Amy looked very pretty and was happier and "cooler" than they remember ever seeing her.  So true. If Mark makes Amy happy, that's what matters most.

Birthday presents were all appreciated; no duds. :smileyhappy:

I finally received my birthday gift (waiting since March) of a Canon all-in-one wireless printer.  My old HP printer, which was a dozen years old, was nearly dead.

Today I successfully uninstalled the old printer and installed the new printer on my laptop, and it works.

Pregnancy went well,  slightly low on hormones so I got zero highs and lows and also I be longed to the 25% who doesn't get pregnancy cravings, so I didn't gain at all instead I lost 35 pounds.

Tracy, I picked a medium-sized bowl full on Sunday before I left for OHio and then yesterday, Ashleigh and I both half-way filled up a very large bowl.  I spent 30 minutes going through them all getting out the stems, leaves & dead flower pieces (from the blooms)... then I washed them and froze them on a cookie sheet.  I should have used 2 or 3 cookie sheets but I was lazy (and itchy!).

I wish I could have you come up and pick those darn things.... if it isn't the thorns sticking me or the mosquitoes biting me, the bees decided to make a hive in the fence pole latch... I could not figure out why there was so many bees around the blackberries... I figured they just loved to suck the juice out or something but then I spyed the honeycomb in that latch thing.  I sprayed the heck out of that thing with Raid and they haven't been back, yet.

I need to get out there and pick the rest before they dry up.  One thing I do hate is that those branches get so heavy that they break and then if you don't get those berries quickly, they dry up and are yucky.  I think I've got 4 broken branches.  I tied a bunch of them to the fence last year but I see I'm going to have to tie more of them so they don't break.

HEre's the blackberries we got yesterday.... this is a HUGE colander ....and it's almost 3/4 full.
