Weekend Plans?

Fri, 02-22-2013 - 6:52am

We made it to Friday.

Anyone have plans even close to being as good as Susan's? I sure don't.

I am taking off work early today with some accumulated comp time. Jeff and I will do something. Not sure what yet. We'll get together about 2:00. We have kicked around a gambling boat, going to see a movie here, and that's it so far. It's hard to find date stuff to do at home when the weather is cold. Yet another reason to hate winter. If it was warm we'd go fishing. His birthday is Sunday so I need something great, but I am out of innovative ideas.

DD has softball right after school then she is going straight from there to a slumber party. Her father has that run. There are many days I am happy her middle school is on the same campus as the high school. When her school lets out she just has to walk next door for practice. I'd stress her father forgetting her if there was a pick-up involved. DS is going home with a friend and spending the night with him.

Tomorrow morning softball is cancelled. There are going 3 hours today instead. So I'll pick up DD from her party, and then go get DS. We'll figure out something to get into for the day. I know somewhere in there we have to clean.

DS plays basketball Saturday night. Right at the same time as his first baseball practice with his new team. Oh well, we'll make the next one surely.

Sunday the kids are going with their dad to visit with his family. I'll get them back that evening. I'll probably get some deep cleaning done while they are gone.

Hey Susan, when my thread didn't post this morning, they NEVER post the first time, I of course had copied it because I know I am going to lose it, I tried the CTRL V trick and it worked.    Thanks!

Susan's weekend wins in my book hands down!  Mel's in-laws going on a cruise is nice but I am not a cruise person.  Went once and that was enough for me.  I much prefer being on land.  That being said I am sure your in-laws will love their cruise Mel.  Lots of people do.

Any way nothing at all planned for this weekend.  John called me just before I left work last night and said he would meet me at home.  He was at a clients and was not going back to the office.  We had a "date night" which is very rare this time of year.  He took me to PF Changs and then we went shopping at the mall.  He bought me a late Valentine present - what a guy!

So that being said it will be dinner at home tonight.  Saturday I was planning on taking my Dad out in the morning but will have to watch the weather.  They are saying - crappy storm starting Saturday sometime and going through till Sunday am.  Snow, sleet, freezing rain, all rain - they don't know.  I will must likely not do a lot of running around on Saturday.  Dinner at home.  Same goes for Sunday - YAWN!!!!

Today is Dylan Thomcat's 8th birthday.  He isn't getting anything special because I spent $90 on a cat tree/condo for him at Christmas.

Lenten concert at church this evening.  I'm not singing; we have a mezzo soprano performer booked.  I understand she is awesome.

Pretty Pooch at 8:30 Saturday morning, followed by PetSmart adoption event.  Leaving there at noon to come home and shower because

Small Group Bible study was moved to Saturday afternoons instead of Friday nights during Lent so we can attend the Friday Lenten series at the church.

Sunday morning is church, an Amy said something Wednesday about wanting to come to town Sunday afternoon because she wants to go to the thrift store (that our family calls "the bad place") with me.  I'm still looking for a cat carrier big enough for Dylan and a pair of burgundy throw pillows for the loveseat.

If Amy doesn't stay here long, I am thinking about going to Deacon Nancy's "Prayer by Personality" class at church at 6:30.  Deacon Nancy is fun, and the subject matter is intriguing.

We had a good time.  We left about noon and took the scenic route.  It was about a 3 hour drive.  We had plenty of time to check in, head out to the bar to say hi, back to the hotel to get ready, and then once some other people showed up we got some supper.  Bars in Indiana can stay open until 3:30!  We surely didn't last that long.  I didn't even open my calorie counter at all on Friday.  And of course today I'm paying for it.  Up about a 1/2 pound. :(

We got home Saturday about 2ish and was napping by 2:30!  The girls and dog were happy to see us.

Yup.  That's pretty much it.  The first thing we did was take a personality test.

The friend who hosts our renewal class on Friday evenings and I are polar opposites.  That explains why she says the Friday class is so much fun and I find it so very difficult!  We have totally different styles.
