I was the one who suggested it and then forgot to do it! What a ninny I am sometimes... lol
I have 4 meals.... not sure what night we'll have what...
Chili w/cheese, sour cream, crackers, etc. Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches & Vegetable Soup Spaghetti w/tossed salad & homemade garlic bread Macaroni & Cheese w/leftover taco meat and green beans on the side
I too am trying to use stuff I have on hand in the pantry and/or freezer. I probably have 8 - 1 lb. boxes of spaghetti noodles.
Sometimes I can plan what I'm having for the week but more times than not I have no clue. I'm not a planner by nature. I know I should be but it's not in me.
Missy - I dont think planning is for everyone. I like to make lists. Brings out my inner geek! I just got an app for my new computer and set up a check register and monthly budget. I love it! But that makes me a little OCD I think:) I'm also trying to make a game out of saving money in the vain hope that i will actually stick with it.
Shelly, $180 for 2 weeks? That's awesome!!! I spent $300 on Thursday and we only have hamburger meat to show for it. The rest was contact solution, vitamins, cleaning supplies, toothpaste etc.......
We ran out of bread last night and Ray looked and me and said, "What did you buy for $300?" I wanted to bonk him on the head. He has no clue what the cost of everything is these days.
Yeah it was only $180, but you all must remember it is just me and 2 boys that don't like to eat much of anything LOL Plus, instead of shopping at Wal-Mart for the bulk of our food, I got what I KNEW wasn't available at Save-A-Lot and bought what I needed there, then went to Save-A-Lot and got the majority of our stuff. It may not be a "name brand" but most of the time it's all the same stuff. This Save-A-Lot used to have a really NASTY meat selection, when you walked into the store it smelled like rotten meat, but they have a great selection now. And they run a special 5 for $19.99 on a variety of meats. I got 2- 3 pound packages of hamburger, 2 packs of 3 steaks and 1 pack of beef tips to use for soup or stirfry or something like that. I also for 2- 3 pound packages of BLSL chicken breast for $2.99 each!!!!! So like when I lay out the hamburger, like i did today, I will use part of it for tacos tonight and then the rest for burgers tomorrow night :)

I came up with a list of things that the boys will eat and then just rotated them for 2 1/2 weeks on the calendar.

Evey really likes salad and we just discovered this, she especially loves lettuce of any type so I think we are going to eat more spinach salads

Not a bad thing, Candice.

I'm a few days late, but we'll see what I can remember and go from there.
Saturday: everyone sick
Sunday: roast pork, leftover mashed potatoes, and cesar salad
Monday: boy-free -- cream of fridge soup and spicy chicken wings
Tuesday: tortellini with leftover sauce, garlic bread, and salad
Wednesday: oriental-type chicken, rice, green beans
Thursday: leftovers?
Friday: some sort of different pasta recipe
Candice, does anyone else make use of your lists?
I am with you Missy.
