Can you get disability payments if you have been diagnosed with arthritis? Thank you for any information.

I tried to answer you sooner but was having some problems logging or signing in...

What type of diasability payments are you refering to?

It ALL depends on where you live and the severity of your arthritis...

Also the willingness of the doctor to agree to help you fight for it...lots of paper-work usually...

Please if anyone else has something they want to share or you could provide a little more information, it doesn't have to be indentifying just maybe where you live...the country etc.

I have heard of people getting Social Security Disability for rheumatoid arthritis.  As Lorie said, you would need to have the backing of your doctor and his recommendation plus full reports of your limitations.  I really don't know too much about SSDI but do know that it is more difficult to get these days, takes a lot longer than it used to and might require the help of an attorney.  There used to be a message board on iVillage that dealth with SSDI and Workers' Comp but I don't know if it still exists.  If it does, I'll post the link in another message.
