Osteoarthritis in the knees

I've been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both both knees. I'm taking an anti-inflammatory, Diclofenac for it. I have muscle pain in my legs, below and above my knees. If I sit in a chair that isn't high, it hurts above my knees when I stand up. I have difficulties walking and standing, even for short periods. I've tried physical therapy but I seem to be in the same position. Please tell me that it will get better and that there is hope for me. I'm unable to work right now. I never thought that knee pain would cause pain in my tendons and muscles too. It gets so depressing because I feel like I'll never get better. I've had knee pain since July 2012. I had surgery in May 2013 on my left knee to repair a torn mensicus and clean out the arthritis. I had the same surgery in October for my right knee, althought this time, the doctor scrapped my kneecap because it worn down. It seems to never end. Wasn't I supposed to be as good as new after surgery?

Any experiences and advice would be appreciated.

I have a friend who has this and while I don't get it, she exercises to relieve pain. She can walk for miles and miles. Her legs hurt worse if she doesn't exercise than if she does. You might want to look into it.

Oh and she spends a fortune on shoes. I don't know what kind they are but she insists they help.
