Does anyone use any kind of orthotics that you can get at the drug store for you aching feet? What about prescription orthotics? Was there enough difference in them that it warranted the cost of custom orthotics?

I don't use the OTC ones but have used custom made (very pricy) and some that I bought online. I had plantar fascitis back n 2000 and got the custom made ones from a  podiatrist. I didn't have any problems for years. Flash forward to 2011 and an RX  I  was taking for infection made it come back. My orthotics were kind of worn out so I went back to my podiartist to get a cortisone shot and he told  me they could be refurbished. I can't tell you how much it cost because I never got a bill for it.  Anyway while I was waiting for the old ones to be refurbished the doctor told me about a site where you could order online. I ordered a pair that I ended up liking better than the custom made ones. Last year I ordered two more pair from a site that actually made the orthotcs (Power Step) because the first site didn't carry  that style any more. I'm very pleased with them. It's good thing I did because I  cannot find my custom made ones.
