Swimming good exercise for arthritis

I have heard that swimming is good for those who suffer from arthritis. I don't swim well but my kids are telling me to get swim lessons and give it a try. Has anyone ever tried it and can you give me your honest thoughts how it compares to other exercises (like walking, jogging, cycling)?

Where I live they offer Aquafit classes...they have a pool thats warm and do exercises specifically for those with Arthritis and/or Fibromyalgia.

Also at my NP's they do exercises from a sitting position in a chair.

Since starting attending an Arthritis Support Group that has helped me to...

Next week I have an appointment with an Occupational Physio Therapist.

I have RA and OA.

I haven't tried it but have also been told that it is the best kind of exercise because there is no pressure on your joints. I am very large and struggle with other kinds of exercise and everyone keeps telling me to try swimming so I am considering it.
