Just found the gold kiwi fruit at Sam's club.  I saw it somewhere else one time but by the time i went back to buy it was gone.

I hated to buy a huge container of them but was so tempted I did.  Gad are these good!! Went to a web site about them and found instructions on how to keep them longer(refrigerate when they are ripe in plastic bag.

Surprisingly although the gold has a sweeter taste and a softer texture, it actually has less carbs than the green ones.

MaryFrances  just found a recipe you might like, although I know you could not use the red onion in it.  Its a kiwifruit and quinoa salad.

here is a link to it I hope:

Nancy,

There has to be a mistake in the first nutritional analysis. You can't have 17 grams of carbs and 22 grams of sugar in the same thing. But notice this is for two fruits so if you only eat one at a time you should be okay.

The recipe sounds really good. I might add some celery since I can't use the onions and the crunch would be nice. Carbs aren't too bad either. Most likely I wouldn't have any fruit for dessert if I ate this.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Found another nutritional breakdown for this golden variety,

MyfitnessPal shows this:

Kiwi Gold (Zespri)
Serving Size: 1 Kiwi, Calories: 40, Fat: 0.3g, Carbs: 10g, Protein: 1g

Gold Kiwi Fruit (Zespri)
Serving Size: 2 Medium fruit (150g), Calories: 80, Fat: 1g, Carbs: 17g, Protein: 2g

apparently it not only has a lot more Vit C than an orange it also has almost as much potasium as a banana!
