When did you first suspect you may have diabetes? Did you go to the doctor right away or wait to see if your symptoms would go away on their own?

I didn't! But I felt so awful that it was a relief to know what was wrong. I didn't really have any of the classic signs--eating too much, drinking too much and peeing too much. I would eat something and I would have to go an lay down because I was so sleepy. And I got fierce headaches and awful bouts of respiratory infections. At the time I was diagnosed we didn't know about the heritary component of diabetes. Now we would be checking me more frequently because I am a third generation diabetic.

I don't think most people think about it. My diabetes was caught early and  was never out of control, so I didn't have any symptons to suspect.
