When you were diagnosed diabetic did you make the changes recommended by your health care practitioner?

I was reading something sent to me last week about the latest research about diabetics taking care of themselves after diagnosis. Seems that something like 85% do not make the dietary changes recommended by their health care practitioner. How did you do? How did your family member do?

I felt so awful when I was diagnosed that it was a blessing to know what was wrong and I immediately made the dietary changes recommended to me by the dietitian. Exercise was another story as I had an orthopedist telling me not to exercise and endocrinologist telling me to exercise. Ultimately I decided to only listen to the endo.

What was your experience?
