How open or discreet are you about it?

Karla,

I test in public because my meter is pretty descreet. I wold much rather know what is going on than worry about someone watching my test. But I also don't flaunt my testing as I don't want to gross anyone out. It just a normal part of my life and has been for many years.

I would do it at my desk when I was working, although I usually did it facing the wall, so not really obvious.  It has been common to test in my van, and I do test at the Y either before I start exercising(if i did not before I got there) and often after I get done  exercising.  I need to do it before exercising because if my BG is below 100 I need a snack.  Otherwise I will often run out of steam after only `15-20 minutes.  I don't walk that fast, so usuallly I tend to go for longer periods of time, but at a speed that won't set off my cranky joints.  The meters now are so small its not as big a deal as it used to be.  My meter issmall, and it has a light to it, so i can test in the dark in my van. The light will first show the test strip and then when meter reads it, the light switches to the display part.

My meter is always in my purse, and if I feel shakey or funny, I would test whereever I am at that point.   NOT making a big deal of it, but also not hiding either.
