It's that time again...

Time for all the New Year's Resolutions to be made, only to be broken almost immediately.  I already exercise as much as I can, and though I'm sure I could survive without chocolate, wine, and coffee, I don't want to even try, because I'm pretty sure my life would be dismal indeed.  I have long given up any fantasies of being a super model or fabulously wealthy, so I am going to concentrate my efforts on something I can actually obtain this year.  I am going to work on keeping my house clean and organized, getting things repaired and in good working order, and making it feel like "home."  I've been able to maintain my bedroom and bathroom in a fairly clean, organized fasion for the last year, so if I put in a couple of hours a week cleaning, painting, repairing, etc, I should be able to make my home feel like "home."  I am limited by my severe allergies, but I did manage to sweep and vacuum during the holidays all by myslef, wearing an N95 mask.  :-)  It was miserable, but I did it and survived without any major allergic reactions, so I will just have to do it and no whining.   Now that it's just my youger DS and I, plus 4 cats, 2 dogs, and a pigeon, there isn't a lot of mess in the first place, beyond the mountains of fur and feathers littering every surface, which is what we really need to keep clean.  With some new furniture, home repairs, paint, and love, it should be no time until I will be proud to have people over.  Now, if anyone has a no fail way to keep the animals from chewing/clawing the furniture to bits, I'd love to hear it!  I'm NOT buying new furniture until I have a way to keep it from being destroyed!

What are YOUR goals for 2013?  Let us know, keep us updated, and let us hold each other responsible for keeping them!!

Once my ex-husband finishes getting all of his things out of here, the place will be a lot easier to maintain. He is a hoarder for sure! I could never clean, organize, or improve anything because he would literally come unglued if anyone touched his stuff, even the stuff sitting in the middle of the floor for months. It's beyond amazing to be able to WALK through my house and only trip over the dogs. :-) I'm seriously considering fencing off the back yard, getting a dog house, and making them live outside most of the time, because I want a darn couch. They ate my last one.

I loved your post.

It is just me and my ds, my dd lives on her own.

Recently we moved to a new city, and we LOVE it!...:)...

Before moving we really thought about taking ONLY what we really needed/wanted.

Fly Lady has helped me a lot.

We have two cats!

I have a few resolutions for the New Year, one is definitely taking care of me...:)...
