I taught myself to be a calm person when I was young. It's not always easy, but not being calm when thoughts are racing through my head at 100mph just tires me out quickly and makes me look foolish.
I do meditate, and I've done yoga. I also practice Reiki, and I also turn to EFT. And I walk a lot when I am not calm inside.
Most of the time I am a very calm person. I do have a limit, though, and if I am pushed far enough, I get hard-headed, stressed, and unwilling to compromise. It takes a lot to get me to that point, though.
Music is very calming as is surrounding myself with silence (no tv or kids), hibernating inside by the fireplace with a good meal and glass of wine, and getting lost in a good book.
How interesting Molly, I'd love to hear more about the guided imagery. I took part of a stress clinic once and it involved guided imagery. It was really quite interesting.
I don't think I come off as being a nervous wreck, but sometimes I feel like one! I use daily meditation & yoga to keep in balance. I do the moves I can by watching Namaste yoga on Fit tv. I have meditation tapes by Deepak Chopra & Jon Kabat Zinn. Mostly they center on mindfulness. Living in the present keeps me from *what iffing* & worrying about the past & the future. jan
I am becoming a calm person through meditation, aromatherapy and music.

I like to do yoga but it's more for stretching than to relax me, although it does do that.
I'm a scented candle burner too! Do you find certain scents affect you more than others? What's your favorite?
