I have a good friend, really it is a friend whom I can't get to use this board, who has excessive sweating at any and all hours of the day and night, year round.  It's affecting her life and daily activities.  She's been to doctors who have run blood tests which come out fine.

She is 49 years old and  had a partial hysterectomy 10 years ago.  Sometimes she gets light headed but I think it's because of some dehydration due to the sweating.  She takes premarin which doesn't seem to affect the sweating.

Does anyone have any good ideas of what could cause this?  And what course of action would you suggest to find out what is really going on?

Thanks to all.

I think the term for this is hyperhydrosis.  I know intolerance to heat and sweating can be a symptom of a thyroid disorder (hyperthyroidism) as well as some other conditions.  I found this article on WebMD.

Did the sweating come on after her hysterectomy or has it always been a problem for her?  There is a condition called Hyperhidrosis which is excessive sweating.  Here are a few articles that may help a bit, the first link, the second page is more helpful than the first page of the article:

So sorry about your friend. Has she tried a different doctor? I think the lightheadedness sounds more of a problem than the sweating.  My husband is an excessive sweater and there is nothing physically wrong with him. He can soak through clothing like I've never seen before and while very embarrassing for him, it's not related to any kind of illness or condition.
