Sloppy treatment, poor bedside manner, wrong diagnosis, rudeness.... Most of us have had some sort of bad experience

Thankfully, the only bad experience I've had with a doctor's office did not involve quality of care!

When my daughter was young, the pediatrician we saw used to make patients wait for an interminable amount of time. At one point, my daughter had a condition which necessitated her going to the doctor for a quick check every day. We would sit in the waiting room for upwards of 90 minutes, and then in the exam room for another 30-45 minutes for a visit that itself would last maybe 10 minutes.

When confirming the next appointment (which was scheduled for 2:15 p.m.) the receptionist reminded me to arrive 15 minutes early. Exasperated, I asked her, "So we should get here at 4 o'clock, right, since we won't see the doctor until at least 4:15?"

We never had to wait more than 20 minutes again.

This is my story...I was experiencing abdomen pain and in the course of testing the hospital found a dermoid tumor and referred me to my obgyn who said she couldn't feel it during an exam but scheduled a vaginal ultrasound, which revealed a dermoid cyst on the left ovary, same size and ovary as the hospital found. She scheduled surgery to have it removed. I went in for surgery. She didn't meet with me before or after on day of surgery, which I thought was rude. I was told by my boyfriend after I woke up that she couldn't find the dermoid cyst but did find a cyst on the right ovary that she drained. What???? There was no mention of the cyst on the right ovary. I'm happy she found it and drained it but what about the REASON for surgery? What happened to the dermoid cyst? She minimized it's importance and said it was just a fatty cyst, nothing to be worried about it, all is fine. The follow up hospital nurse said dermoid cysts don't go away and the research I have done states the same thing so what happened to it? My obgyn is not a people person. Staff at the office are rude. I asked for my records and staff got snippy and asked if I was leaving their practice before giving me info to get my records. I just took off 4 wks of work (without pay) and am paying off a lot of money for visits and surgery for nothing. . . .Can somebody tell me if dermoid cysts go away, what I should do now....I don't trust this doctor at all now. How well does anyone really know their obgyn if they only see them 1x a year for a pap smear. She is arrogant and not a people person. I can't get answers to my questions from her. I'm not a child. I want an explanation, deserve one. I'm not a child that will go away after being told everything is fine. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Wow. That is unbelievable that your doctor has not offered a better explanation. Personally if it were me I'd find another doc. If I am not comfortable with a doc then I am not going to stick with her.

Let us know what you find out what happened.
