I am 21 years old, at the grand old age of 19 I was diagnosed with early onset hypertension and after while I was put on bisopropol. My kidney scans, heart ultrasound, and bloods came back normal, so there is no cause. Although my mum was diagnosed in her 40's and my grandad in his 60+'s. So I'm wondering if it can be heridiatary. I was born at 28 weeks gestation so my mum thinks this might be something to do with it. I saw cardiology in march and i was in and out in two seconds, he asked if everything was okay and checked my feet to make sure they were not swollen. Would I be on medication for life now?

Hi Melissa. I don't really know if it is hereditary, but from what you have said, it sounds like it is possible. As for being on medication for the rest of your life, I suggest you talk to your doctor about that. It would be the best thing to do, and also ask if a combination of medication, diet, exercise and overall attention to your health and well being can control this. Best of luck!
