Worried about other people's cooking

I know a lot of people might think I am paranoid, but I can't help worry this time of year about how safe the food is to eat at holiday pitch ins. I for one tend to be very conscious of food handling and sanitation but I realize not everyone else is. I've had food borne illness and it was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. I tend only to eat food from people I know and am familiar with. Does anyone else worry about this kind of thing?

Hi Brenda! I do understand your concerns, especially since you have had the experience of food-borne illness. I tend to be a little careful about the kinds of food I eat at a pot-luck kind of meal. I also prefer to know who has made it. I got very sick once from a trifle that someone had brought to a luncheon. Found out later that she was sick herself when she made it!

Hi Brenda,

I guess I would also tend to agree with you.  Getting sick from food would put me on high alert too.  I'm pretty careful about whose food I eat.
