I'm not sure if I have a thyroid problem or not but I have a lot of symptoms of low thyroid. I have been taking the home test with the thermometer in my armpit for the last 3 days. The readings have been 97.3, 96.1 & 96.6. I will continue to do it for a week. I use a digital thermometer and after researching thyroid problems online I found a site that said you should only use the old type thermometer not the digital so that you can leave it in place for 15 minutes. Anyone have opinions on this?

Right...we just haven't discussed this on this board for quite a while so I haven't even thought about it.

Thanks MrsRichards! That article on basal thermometer testing was just one I picked at random. I don't know if it's accurate or not. I had read about it in a book and thought I'd try it. When I go to the doctor I have to pay out of pocket so unfortunately I usually don't go.

Thanks Calley, there are alot of articles about the Basal Temperature test for thyroid. If you want to read about it here is one article

I still think you would need to be diagnosed by a Dr. but this gives you a place to start. Thanks again.

Hi ibecky8,

Welcome to our board.

I have not ever tried matching my thyroid condition and my temperature.
