Anyone use Tramadol for their pain?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone here has used Tramadol for their pain?  Is it safe?  I have gone on-line and read that it can be addicting.  I was taking this for 10 days prior to getting my colonoscopy because you cannot take NSAIDS when you're having that kind of procedure.  I was prescribed Tramadol and it seemed like it helped me!  I was thinking of scheduling an appointment to talk to the doctor about this.  I really don't want to take another medication, or any medication for that matter, but at 50 years old I feel myself getting weaker all the time, and I just have to do something different than what I'm doing now.  I have chronic back pain and arthritis in my spine.  I have a 4 month old granddaughter and I'm so afraid I'm not going to be able to play with her and enjoy her like I should, I just have to try something new.  The colonoscopy, btw, was for screening purposes and everything's fine, don't need another for 10 years.

sorry to hear about your pain. i to have severe back pain. tramadol can be addictive but not as likely since its non-narcotic. my mother has been on it for over a year for her back and leg pain. she takes 1 to 3 a day as needed. she says it helps her. i have taken in the past for migraines with phenogran then i took it for awhile for my back. if you are hurting this is the best alternative before going to narcotics. hope this helps.
