Bracing For Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is hitting the east coast. It's wet, it's windy, it's dangerous. I'm stocked up on all the essentials, although I don't have a lot of batteries (out of my budget) so hoping I don't lose power and need them. The governor just issued a statement that he wants everyone off the roads for the next 36 hours. This was just released from the National Weather Service for our area.

Really scary stuff. And to add insult to injury, a skunk family decided to weather out the storm in the crawl space beneath my kitchen. Smells. So. Durn. Badly. In. My. House.

I'm laughing. If I didn't laugh, I'd be crying and laughing is so much better for the soul.

Stay safe to all you folks out there suffering through Sandy.

(and wanted to add that I'm having trouble posting today. Hope these issues, bugs and glitches get resolved soon!)

Wow Lauren Sue, Its amazing how you can handle all the stress that must come with a devistating storm  I would be shaking like a leaf on a stormy day.   Prayers ccntinue to come your way.      Our power is going off for 6 hours so tha scheduled maintenance can be performed.   How long can your fridge stay cold with out power  Previous outages or shut downs  have been much shorter.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!.

it's amazing that fallen tree in my sister's yard didn't damage her boat, deck or dock. God was watching over them!

Ruben,

We faired the storm well. My parents lost power around 5pm. Our lights flickered once but stayed on throughout the storm. I'm amazed. It's still dark out, so I havent' been able to go outside and assess tree damage, but we had a ton of water from the ceiling filling huge buckets of water, plus the basement and a first floor room had a lot of water coming in. Daddy gets the boys early this morning, so we will be venturing out in the remnants of this storm. After we drop the boys, we are driving to a women's shelter to deliver turkeys and other side dishes prepared by some of the women at the church. It's going to be interesting to see the aftermath of Sandy. The footage out of NJ and NY is devastating. My sister did have a mammoth tree fall (pictures attached). She lives in the lake house that's been in my family since the early 50's and this is the first tree to ever fall on the property. I am certain she is out of power by now and I haven't heard updates since this tree fell, which was very early in the storm before the heaviest winds were even close.
